Not just my favourite craft bar in Japan, but one of my favourites in the world. Absolutely awesome. If you can only visit one place in Japan, make it Popeye.

Excellent place in Tokyo. I like how the focus is on the Japanese stuff and not just flogging off all international stuff although there is plenty of that, too. The food is great and service is also great. Definitely check it out.

More like a restaurant with bar than a pub. Crowded with excellent selection of beers which are available on sample plates. Good place to spot Japanese micros. If you want a peaceful evening, donít come. Even personnel is boisterous. One of the must-go places in Tokyo for sure.

Stopped by on a Saturday night. Despite it being rainy and poor weather the place was packed. Iíd recommend a reservation. If you stop by more often, you may want to get a memberís card (I got one! So rbíers, donít hesitate to drop me a line if youíre in town)
The beers are unfortunately quite large pours (9 oz or so) so sampling is not really possibly unless you have a few people and go for the 10 glass sampler.
Prices are typically Tokyo prices for 500-700 yen for the 9 oz pours.
Selection can be hit or miss but last time they had fresh Ballast Pointís Victory at Sea on tap. They also have a small bottle shop in front that may be worth your time if youíre looking to take stuff home.
Food is mostly pub food but good enough to keep you full.
My only complaint is that everyone is placed practically shoulder to shoulder together and itís rough to move around even a bit.

Most amount of taps in Tokyo. Service was amazing for how packed the place was. Food was severely underwhelming, but letís be honest weíre all hear for the beer. Quite cramped without much room between tables. They were out of quite a bit that I wanted to order, so going early is probably recommended. A little on the pricey side. A must-go based on selection but once is probably enough.

Deserves its ranking among Japanese craft beer bars. MUST stop place in Tokyo.

Finally got to Popeyeís after coming to Tokyo many times over the last few years and it didnít disappoint. At a time when the craft beer scene has seen a proflieration of new bars, Popeyeís still tops the lot. For one simple reason. It has a huge amount of Japanese micros on tap plus a range of American imports. Yes itís pricey, but in a couple of hours I had five beers, three of which were some of the best Iíve had in Japan and one of which was a new all time favourite Japanese beer. Go between 5-8 and you get a complimentary food dish with each beer ordered. Itís very busy but a great place to meet people, especially if you are alone. Service is outstanding and the regulars are also very friendly and knowledgable. I got some great advice on beers to order.

Good restaurant with an awesome selection of japanese craft beers on tap. Poor and extremely expensive selection of non-japanese beers.
Food is ok. Complimentary food with some beers from the tap list if you order before 8pm.
If you are an IPA lover you can find some little treasures like Baird Beer Suruga Bay IPA and Coedo Session IPA.

The place is located right by the sumo arena. A very good selection of beers. Food is ok, but the place gets crowded. Knowledgable staff.

Amazing place with 76 beers on tap. Close to Ryogoku Railway station in a side street. Very busy, enthusiastic service, standard Tokyo prices, western music played, English Premier league football on TV, English beer menu & staff speak English. Great atmosphere. The place to go for beer in Tokyo.
