If I were rating only the beer, this score would be much higher. Their beer is REAL good for the most part. But this is a place rating so unless your a homebrewer their isnít much reason to come to this location. This is pretty much a homebrew shop and tasting room. Nowhere to sit, only a few bar height tables to stand at. Growler refills is a plus. They teach homebrew classes here sometimes too which seems cool.

This is the best place Iíve ever been. Why? Its a homebrew shop... so they are willing to talk about the beer with a beer geek.
As for the Beers... AMAZING AMAZING. So unique. They will tell you about what they are using, and give you ideas to take home. Tasting price is cheaper than their other location.
The service was exceptional. Iím a beer geek, there were other beer geeks there, and they seemed to know us beer geeks can talk about the beer we are sipping and talk with us.
I LOVE THIS PLACE. AND LOVE THERE BEER. To bad iím 1000 miles away.

a great little place half homebrew half taphouse for the brewery. They had a ton of beers that are not bottled and are very limited in production. I was so glad to sample them. The service was fantastic and met some cool people in there. A definate must for fans of this brewery!

Ambiance: Itís mostly Homebrew mart with a small section for tasting. Itís weird because you are in this weird strip mall.
Service: Service is A-OK.
Selection: A wide variety of BP beers on tap.
Value: Fairly priced tasters and pints.
Overall: I prefer their other location to this.

was my original home brew store before leaving in 1997. Store, taproom but some great brews on tap. The place has gone through an upgrade in the last 14 years and if you come to SD you should swing by and give the brews a try. They do a great job here.

The place itself is boring at best being a homebrew shop in a strip mall, but the beer selection is as great as the beers themselves. I wouldnít score this very high because of the ambiance, but the Ballast Point brews are so hard to get, even in SD County, that this taproom becomes a must visit even if it is rather difficult to enjoy oneself in a store.

Nothing special about Ballast Point/ Brewmart. Has a decent amount home brew supplies. Tasting bar is nice, but their beer selection doesnít change much.
I think the workers seem nice enough, but you definitely get the feeling like youíre putting them out by bothering them with questions.

they run a great business. the more you go in and the more they recognize you the more friendly they will get. very accommodating to new brewers, equally accommodating for old brewers. Prices are very fair for being brick and mortar. Tasting bar is great. It almost completely replaced online brew supply shopping for me.
