Cool, dark, hip, smallish bar with very good small plates of food which is very reasonably priced. Beer prices are in line with the neighborhood. Service has always been attentive without being over-bearing. Just the way I like it. Outdoor patio is usually bumping when the weather is nice, and bar can be crowded at peak times. You can always expect to find interesting things on tap at Bangers and Lace. You can expect about half of those interesting things to taste good. Either know what youíre getting in to, or ask for a sample.

Opening weekend for the Chicago Bears; yes the gameís on the couple of 30" TVís they have hanging about, but they want to play a Talking Heads playlist over the PA?!? Hell yeah! This is the type of place I wanna watch a game at! Definitely a lodge-y / dive-y type bar with a solid selection of uncommon beers available on tap and in bottles. And the food? ... yeah, good stuff. Itís a sausage-based menu done very well (I recommend the goat "sandwich"). Itís a bit overpriced, and their was nothing special about the wait staff - although they did a good job "checking" in on me. I get the hype, but definitely a place I would pass up if there was a wait.

This place is OK. The beer list is awesome. Their "Bangers" are kind of disappointing. They claim to be a sausage landmark, but all they really have are some dressed up hot dogs and 2 or 3 sausages. Theyíre pretty good, but not what I would expect from a sausage place.
Now for the service. Go read yelp. Thereís a lot of reviews on there about the staff being much more concerned with themselves than the customers. Itís true. These guys didnít have the time to give a crap, even though the place was empty when we were there. Stop being assholes to your customers, and Iíll gladly come back. In the mean time, thereís a crap load of other bars with really good beer lists. Skip.

This place is a landmark for me. Perhaps the best beer bar in Chicago. Since the day theyíve opened they have been busy and for good reason. 32 rotating taps and hundreds of beers in bottle. The food is good without being to expensive and they often do special pairings. The cicerone, Ria, always makes chooses an excellent selection for their arsenal of beers.

Like dining in a mountain lodge, except this lodge has foie gras corn dogs among their other delectable entrees. Great beer selection, a target rich environment and a cool name, where else would you spend Friday night?

This place is all right, but there are better in the city. Food isnít too bad. Mostly small little sandwiches based around sausage. Beer list was pretty good too, but they kept running out of stuff all night. They must have shut down about 10 taps the night I was there. Kind of annoying, but in their defense, they were busy.

Bangers and Lace allows me to participate in one of my favorite Chicago summer activities - drinking beer outside. With a large tap selection and a fair amount of bottles as well, this would have the beginnings of a great beer bar.
The best part about the beer menu is the Six Pack, were you can get 6 2 oz. samples for $9, normally of an interesting mix of beers.
Right now, I think it is a few steps away from being in the category of great beer bars I would visit regularly. The service is all right, although I have normally gone during off-peak hours, so that might have an impact. The prices on the tap list are coincidentally all $1 too expensive for an equal or smaller pour than other bars around.
The food leads me to the same conclusion - there is nothing inherently bad about the quality, but I am left wondering why it costs so much, considering it is pretty average. Mostly consisting of sausage products, the menu is also not very substantial.
This is the type of place I will head if they have something special on tap, but it will not become one of my regulars.
