An airy, high-ceilinged pub. Ten cask taps, but only five different options (each repeated), and nothing very exciting. Mostly macro stuff on keg. Friendly enough staff, average pricing. Not worth seeking out.

Ich war dort als es noch "The Bank" hies. Tolles ungewöhnliches Ambiente in der Schalterhalle der alten Bank. Abgewetzte Ledersessel. Einige Biere vom Fass. Toller Pub.

Typical Nicholson’s pub converted from a former bank, it’s a bit on the sterile side. Beer choice limited, however my pint of pale ale was well kept and went down easily. Nicholson’s pubs are certainly more upmarket than Wetherspoon’s, but they still have that chain feeling to them, you know what to expect.

Popular conversion of a neo-classical building that obviously used to be a bank. The high ceiling and open interior are part of the attraction as it makes an excellent setting with pillars from floor to roof as part of the decor. The bar is long but at peak times queuing can still be 2 or 3 people deep. There are plenty of lagers and a row of five ale pumps so a fair choice for all. Outside there’s a small area next to the steps that can’t exactly be called a patio but is used as such, especially by smokers as it offers cover and a place to watch the trams pass by.
