Typical Nicholsonís pub converted from a former bank, itís a bit on the sterile side. Beer choice limited, however my pint of pale ale was well kept and went down easily. Nicholsonís pubs are certainly more upmarket than Wetherspoonís, but they still have that chain feeling to them, you know what to expect.

Popular conversion of a neo-classical building that obviously used to be a bank. The high ceiling and open interior are part of the attraction as it makes an excellent setting with pillars from floor to roof as part of the decor. The bar is long but at peak times queuing can still be 2 or 3 people deep. There are plenty of lagers and a row of five ale pumps so a fair choice for all. Outside thereís a small area next to the steps that canít exactly be called a patio but is used as such, especially by smokers as it offers cover and a place to watch the trams pass by.
