Quirky bar that is typical of the Northern Quarter in Manchester, it attracts a diverse range of characters. The bar itself contains among other weird things, a bat hanging from the ceiling, a motorbike and numerous empty Belgian beer bottles. My pint of Porter was good enough and not badly priced, worth popping in as part of a pub crawl.

One of the best places I found with a decent belgian and german beer selection. Also quite decent british ale selection.
Well worth a visith.

We visited Bar Fringe on Saturday 18th April 2015. We’d been here before a number of years ago when attending the CAMRA National Winter Beer Festival when it was held in the city. It was busy on this visit the bar area was swarmed and there was precious few places to perch until we saw a table at the rear which a couple let us sit and join them. Decor and furnishing wise this is busy with lots of Belgian beer signs, mirrors etc on the walls and a good selection of Belgian beers (and correct glassware) on tap and in bottles. Though at the far end of the bar there are 5-6 handpumps with a good selection on offer. The bar staff were really busy but were doing a good job. The clientele was a nice mix with a good number of locals amongst. I like this place, it’s quirky, but interesting and bridges the divide nicely between visiting the Marble Arch and pubs/bars in the Northern Quarter.

I’ve drank in here a couple of times a year for over 10 years, good selection of Belgian and a few on keg. Beer area outside is good decor is quirky. Music/jukebox is always terrible, really terrible Bon jovi style rock guess the camra guys are responsible for that.

Another great pub to visit when I am in Manchester area. Modern pub, rather small place, so therefore often quit crowded. Funny, cosy deco, such as rats, bats, motorbikes, funny drawings etc. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere and at most times the beers are in a good condition.

Has an interesting eclectic decor and is more of a ’bar’ than ’pub’. Generally a welcoming location and has friendly groups of drinkers on most nights, although don’t get on the wrong side of the bar staff as they’ll let you know if you do or say anything they disapprove of. Can get packed in the bar and in the quaint cobbled courtyard area to its rear. They’re also happy to have dogs in the courtyard area although given it gets full in the summer it’s better to bring them during the daytime. Their ale selection rotates and continental beers and fruit beers are available in bottles and on tap. Since late 2014 the pub now has a small discount for CAMRA members.

6 casks. Beer was kept very well. Interior has lots of posters, signs, empty bottles, celebrating beers from around the region and the resat of the world. A bit pricey - £3.10/pint.

I liked the way the bar looked inside full of beer posters and memorabilia. The music being played on the juke box was good. I went on a thurs afternoon so it was a bit quiet, nice selection of cask ales and decent bottle selection mainly Belgian
