This place has many things working in its favor--itís a cool, large space thatís laid out well, they have a great staff, and the beer list is very solid and well cared-for. But the real appeal, where they really make their money, is as a singles hangout for people in their twenties. This place gets absolutely mobbed later in the evenings. You can come in for a quiet drink with friends and before you get through the second round, itís like someone flipped a switch and there are lines everywhere: lines for the bathroom, for both bars, for the door.
But if youíre not a twenty-something, you can still enjoy that quiet drink beforehand. You walk in and it feels like an old warehouse space reclaimed with just enough style. The furniture is nice but not too nice, same for the curtains, and so on. The bars, both upstairs and down, are attractively constructed, well stocked, and cheerfully staffed. They really do make an effort to make everyone here feel welcome.
The way they leave space between tables, you can tell (later, when itís crowded) that itís really architected with an eye toward leaving plenty of space for everybody to mill around. Itís set up to essentially host a big party, rather than cordon people off table by table into their own little areas--itís clearly a spot to come meet people.
We found a booth, or, perhaps, rather, a banquette upstairs. They were playing good music, the beers tasted great, and the prices were right on both pints and cocktails. We eventually were overrun by crowds of kids, so we split after a couple rounds. But Iíve been meaning to find out what was going on with this place for years and years now, and I am glad to say I finally checked it out.

i walk in to a high-ceilinged modern-esque bar with low light, candles and shit and nobody there expect for this dense group of a dozen meetup.com english as a second language students. drink a draft kellerbier that they try to serve to me in a tall, narrow mug but i make them put in a shaker. cool people but i think the crowd here (on nights other than this) is a good mix of yuppie-hipster. cool and all, but not my thing.

Stumbled across this place while looking for a non-gay bar in Capitol Hill on a Saturday night. A really hip bar with lots of young people and hot chicks. I mean the average age was 24 +- 1 year. It was quite a spectacle. Sat at a high table and had convenient service from a nice chick who was giving one of my friends free drinks to the point he blacked out. The beer selection was solid for a such a hip bar. I had a few arrogant bastard ales, a couple rogue hazelnut browns. I thought I remember it being fairly reasonable in price compared to Belltown. I ended up spending maybe $70 but had way too many drinks. I will definitely go back.

Was not sure about this place as I walked in. But once I saw they served every beer they could in the proper glass and some they properly warmed the glass for the correct beer serving temperature. They knew what they where doing. The place is dark but that is only to keep the low life non beer people out. The beer was awesome 26 different beers and some I have never seen before on tap. The staff knew there beer and tried in all ways to help out. We did not eat any food. This is a must stop and find something different. Great time and some fun new beers and served correctly.
