82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 Jesterdeal (10) Marlton, New Jersey | April 11, 2013 I remember squealing like a little girl when I found out about Barcade. It did not disappoint. A little dimly lit but otherwise it feels like the perfect blend of an old bar and a new 80’s arcade. Great selection of craft beers including some rares and one-ofs from various US breweries. The bar staff is very friendly though there is no table service. Food is great for what it is. Not much of a place for sitting down for a meal but what little fare they have is usually very tasty. The games are the centerpiece of the establishment with a great selection of late 80’s arcade games. Definitely worth a trip or 5. | 72 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 14/20 watson1977 (114) The dub c, Pennsylvania | March 3, 2013 Place for craft beer and old school video games. Fuckin Rampage man! I like that they post high scored for each game on a chalkboard. Basically a warehouse type place...rafters and concrete floors. Good beer, good staff. Id visit again for sure. | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 jredmond (161) Manhattan, New York | February 19, 2013 Stopped by Barcade after hitting up Frankford and Fette Sau. Big bar area and standing room in the back with the standard Barcade formula. Lots of games, maybe a bit less than the Brooklyn location - I’m not sure. Solid variety to the tap list, but at the time we visited nothing really grabbed my attention. Seems like they get in a lot of solid events though. | 86 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 orangesol (80) Pennsylvania | August 6, 2012 Other than the art on the side of the building I would have no idea this place is even here. I have wanted to check out Barcade since it opened so we stopped in after brunch at Memphis Taproom.
I am pretty sure we were the first people in the place that day. Selection was pretty good, some leftovers from PBW I think. I decided to go with a Barrel Aged Siberian Night, don’t see that every day. Service was good, but we were the only people there after all. We had just eaten so no food on this trip.
Once I got my beer it was time to play some games. All the games are .25 which is awesome as it allows you to play lost of them for not very much money. All of the classics are there and I had no trouble playing the ones I wanted to play.
Overall a really fun place to hang out. I am not sure if I would like this place if it was packed but on a day like this it was very enjoyable. I will return for sure. | 90 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 mansquito (56) Nueva York, New York | February 12, 2012 This place was a pleasant surprise. There were loads of US microbrews, about half of which were from PA. The bar tenders were hella fast. I would stand at the bar for two seconds and get my beers handed to me. There is a smoking section although it was closed due to the blizzard when I was there. The clientele was all 20-somethings. Lots of hipsters, some bros, and a smattering of nerds. There are little shelves next to the arcade games on which you can place your beverages. Games are all 25 cents a pop. I am awful at video games and this was a new experience for me, but one that I enjoyed none the less. The music was generally rock like. I remember them playing Iggy Pop’s "I want to be your dog" and The Misfits’ "I want your skulls." Good atmosphere if this is your thing. Otherwise, the beer selection should be attractive to beer snobs, who are open to playing Golden Axe for a bit. | 78 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 16/20 Capa (248) Manama, Bahrain | January 30, 2012 Read on if you don’t mind an ultra-hipster, beard centric location. If you don’t like a lot of beards or flannel I would stay away. Pretty impressive draught selection that rotates quite often. A bunch of different styles always available and some rarities come through on the regular, as well. Long bar as you enter the place and a little bit of seating. Back furhter you come to a bunch of 80’s video game machines that will set you back a quarter per play. Great looking exposed rafters and brick walls. Music can be loud and the place can get quite ful of beards during the weekend. Prices were on par with Philadelphia. Even though I stand out like a sore thumb when I go here I do enjoy it. Good beer selection, decent pub fare, olde timey video games (not always in working order but this isn’t ratearcade.com). | 80 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 italianjohn (151) Penndel, Pennsylvania | November 6, 2011 Located in Fishtown ... This place was neat and old with a great draft selection cask and nitro pours, local beers were well represented and the rest were all US micros .... a small and simple sandwich menu and 35 older arcade games in the back room .... outside was a very small area of outdoor seating and a smoking area .... prices were average bartenders were prompt and its definitely a place you could make a night of .... i’d def come here again |
