80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 HighWine (23) Whalezbro, Illinois | February 24, 2013 As far as I’m concerned, this is the best brewery in Indiana. (Yes, I said it. I now skip Three Floyd’s and go here instead on my monthly business trips from Chicago to S. Bend.) I am really impressed with the quality and variety of beers being brewed here. They’re also very innovative with flavor profiles like the ones in the Thai PA. Cool small place that is cozy and always friendly. It’s a little hard to find located past a KOA campground and in the back of an industrial park, but worth getting there. The tap list changes pretty frequently and there’s always something new and interesting to try. Growler fills are commonplace and they even have a smaller "bullet" sized growler for $3. Pretty good for taking that last pint of the night home when you shouldn’t sit there and drink one too many! Full flight sampler is 9-10 beers and cask specials pop up from time to time. Food consists of panini style sandwiches and other munchies. All of the beers, low ABV and high ABV, are well done. Credit cards are also now accepted. | 94 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 20/20 ilawson (1) South Bend, Indiana | February 6, 2013 Love this place. The beers are strong and everyone is friendly. Great little meeting spot for a beer and some conversation. | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 Tmoney99 (366) Cincinnati, Ohio | October 15, 2012 You need a GPS to find this location, but I did and glad I did. Small location with bar on right with some seating around inside. Freindly service. Good selection of beers with staff participation to help with styles and info. Enjoyed the visit. | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 queenholly (35) South Whitley, Indiana | September 4, 2012 Kind of strange location. After looking at a map, we realized you could walk out the back door, and right across the Ind/Mich state line. Relaxed atmosphere, decent prices, friendly staff. Nice variety of beer, and it’s obvious these guys like to experiment. | 76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 14/20 shrubber85 (176) Greenville, Indiana | September 3, 2012 Interesting location - behind a KOA in an industrial park. Nice lounge feeling. Good variety of beer with interesting use of peppers. Only sandwiches available foodwise - didn’t eat anything this trip. Nice comfortable place. | 76 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 BBB63 (130) La Porte , Indiana | August 4, 2012 1st off it current is still a CASH ONLY establishment, hopefully that will change soon. 2nd, slow to update web pages. Now for the good stuff, lot is interesting beers and the brewer is not afraid to experiment with all kinds of spices. The ThaiPA has become the flagship brew and the did an outstanding Pablano Imperial Stout that was to die for. The beer pricing is reasonable and you can get growlers in both 64 and 32 ounces. Hard to find but worth the trip. | 90 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 18/20 MrBunn (72) Western, Pennsylvania | June 14, 2012 This place is kind of in the middle of industrial nowhere, but once you find it, it’s unmistakeable and cool. The place was pretty busy for a Wednesday night, and once I got inside, I realized this was a winner. The Russian Imperial Stout was particularly outstanding. There were 8 beers on tap, some food (didn’t try anything more than pretzels), and plenty of swag. Pints of "normal" beer were $5, and 13 oz. glasses of premium stuff was $6, but they only take cash. Not sure if this is temporary or what. They do 64 and 32 oz. growler fills and pricing is pretty reasonable. |
