Really enjoyed Barley’s. Great food, and a cool atmosphere. The better beer is upstairs, and you can still order food up there, so that is the place to be. Pool tables and a couple of TVs so don’t go for big sporting events (I was there for the NLCS watching my Cards!). Had the Meat Eater pizza, great stuff!

The feel of the bar is almost that of a saloon which I dug. The service was top notch and I was offered a nice sample of La Folie when I was there. Also grabbed a flight of some nice local brews. Overall, the 12 or so taps will keep you interested and the prices were wallet-friendly. Another Asheville must stop.

I went in the middle of the week so it was pretty dead in there. The place is split into a downstairs and upstairs and they are in no way connected. You have to cash out downstairs and they have no idea what’s on tap upstairs. Not a huge deal. A nice clean place with a focus on locals, it is located in the heart of stuff in Downtown Asheville. I did not eat there so I cant comment on the food. Its a good visit!

This place can vary. When very busy and crowded, the service suffers and it gets noisy. They have live music and at times I’ve found it hard to hear that over the crowd noise. But the food is decent if not great and the beer selection is pretty good, mixing favorites with some of the better local brews.

Had lunch here and a couple beers while visiting Asheville. This place was within walking distance to the parking garage we parked in and in close proximity to several other great beer stops as well. Inside the place is basicaly one large area with tables a good sized bar off to the side. It was moderately busy but still plenty of empty seats. They do have an upstairs they utilize for the evening with I think pool/darts, another bar, and additional space to hang out. Since we had pizza the night before at Asheville Pizza & Brewing we didn’t try it here. Rather, we all ordered sandwiches, pitas, things like that. Everyone was happy with their meal. Service was good. The beer menu was impressive with lots of locals on draft. I had a Foothills Hefe and Catawba Valley Teds Farmhouse and there were quite a few others I would have liked to try. They do flights of some locals too; I recall seeing an IPA taster option. Good place; bet there’s a good night scene too.

The wife and I were in Asheville a couple weeks ago and decided to check out BeerAdvocate to see where we should visit and Barley’s was the first place we decided to check out. I loved the layout of the place and we decided to have a couple drinks upstairs before eating downstairs. The highlight of my day their was the New Belgium Lips of Faith Tart Lychee which was fantastic. The food was quite good as well. I had pizza and the wife had a grilled chicken salad (I think). Overall, I’d highly recommend this place.

Stopped in for a beer while walking in downtown Asheville and had a beer and a slice. They had a Berliner Seized by Catabwa Valley named Napoleon that was really good. Pizza was good too. Staff was a little slow, but friendly. Really good draft selection. This is a good spot.

Solid place with an impressive amount of local selections. The food was decent. For ambiance: they had live music, which was nice, but the decor was just a generic mix of beer posters/signs. They needed more specialty/craft beers from other regions; the bottle list was small.

Upstairs/downstairs conundrum. Great selection. Had an amazing Legunitas IPA. Pizza was great. Beer-tender was a card carrying idiot. Lee was his name. I think he was retarded. But the brews were great.

I really like Barley’s and tend to hit it up often. Always stop for a beer if heading to the Orange Peel. They have solid pizzas and always a good selection of beer on tap downstairs and upstairs. The prices are fair, too.
