Had lunch here and a couple beers while visiting Asheville. This place was within walking distance to the parking garage we parked in and in close proximity to several other great beer stops as well. Inside the place is basicaly one large area with tables a good sized bar off to the side. It was moderately busy but still plenty of empty seats. They do have an upstairs they utilize for the evening with I think pool/darts, another bar, and additional space to hang out. Since we had pizza the night before at Asheville Pizza & Brewing we didn’t try it here. Rather, we all ordered sandwiches, pitas, things like that. Everyone was happy with their meal. Service was good. The beer menu was impressive with lots of locals on draft. I had a Foothills Hefe and Catawba Valley Teds Farmhouse and there were quite a few others I would have liked to try. They do flights of some locals too; I recall seeing an IPA taster option. Good place; bet there’s a good night scene too.

> Old school beer tavern with extensive NC local tap list
>> Conveinent downtown location, easy walk from our hotel. Two story ’tavern’ feel with big open spaces, picnic table style seating downstairs and pool tables upstairs. Two bars and tap systems, top and bottom floor. Tap list was extensive, 30+ with a focus on local beers. However, nothing was too interesting to me at least. Highland, Duck-Rabbit, Lonerider, Olde Hickory. Didn’t see any Burial or Wedge or other Asheville beers. Didn’t try the food. Overall, I’m sure it is a great place, but I don’t see any reason to go here given that Wicked Weed is across the street and has better beer, food, and ambiance.

Barley’s welcomed RBWG ’14 with open arms by providing their upstairs bar for us to hold our first night meet and great. The tap beer selection featured many local and regional offerings, and the bar tender was attentive to us all. We dined on fresh baked pizzas that really hit the spot. As we left, we found the downstairs area fully engulfed in imbibers. This is a great place for a pizza and some beers.

Kickoff site for RBWG 2014, thanks for having us! A nice area downstairs, but we were upstairs where there were a few pool tables, dart boards and plenty of space. Bartenders were very helpful and friendly. A nice selection of taps that are both local and non-locals. Food was pretty good too. A nice spot right down town and walking distance from many other hot spots.

Visited during RBWG 2014. Very good spot. Lots of solid beers available on tap with a good emphasis on local breweries. Friendly staff. Good value. The pizza was damn good. Convenient location. Definitely worth a stop during a tour of Asheville - for a pizza meal would be a good call.

I could see this place from my room at the Aloft, very convenient. We stayed upstairs for RBWG 2014, but the downstairs is a bit larger, more tables, and different selection. Staff kept up amazingly well despite the crowd, and even remembered most people’s names. Tasty pizza. Worthwhile stop.

Just was upstairs which is a decent bar with a bunch of pool tables and other games. Service is great, the bartender had a much better palate than I did when we shared some beers. Large interesting tap list and bottles to boot. Food and prices were average.

Exceptional service, great food. Decent tap selection of local brews. Conveniently across street from Aloft. Worth a stop for a bite and a beer but with so many craft beer options in town I’m not sure if I’d spend more than an hour here.

Visited during RBWG. It’s a pretty casual pizza place with about 20 solid taps. Bland layout and decoration. Beer options ranged from a handful of local micros to core offerings from some of the craft big boys. The pizza was decent, not spectacular. Prices were average for Asheville. Overall, it’s a decent spot, but Asheville’s blessed with such a good scene that I doubt I’ll have much reason to revisit this place.

Great place in craft beer centric Asheville to have a pizza and taste a variety of local and WNC beers. Think of this as a fun place to stop and eat and also have some nice craft beers rather than a craft beer destination. Barlye’s fits in nicely to any 2 day or more Asheville beer tour.
