This place has come a long way, since their first place was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy. They have a great tasting room, nice bar, comfortable lounge area. Really friendly and knowledgeable staff. They give youa flight of 5 beers free to try, and after that, you pay for pints, or anything else. They have bottles, or growlers to take home. Fairly reasonable, some a little expensive. No food available. Lots of beers available at any one time, and this brewer brews a wide variety of styles (Imperial Stouts, Milds, ESB, Cream Ales, IPA), generally doing a solid job. Great place overall.

Small and crowded tasting area in the brewery. The staff was friendly and they had several taps (~12 I believe). Some really solid beers, some were just decent. Will definitely be back due to the proximity to my parents house.

Spent 30 minutes on a Wednesday afternoon chatting with Evan, and sampling a few of his (fantastic) beers. The location was a bit hard to find, though the tip on the Barrier site helped a lot (turn on Access road, off of Atlantic Ave). When I visited, it was a brew day so the place smelled amazing. 12 beers were on, 1 oz plastic cup samples of any of them, 32 oz and 64 oz growlers to go. I grabbed a 32 oz growler of the session IPA, which I really enjoyed. Places like this are hard to rate. If you judge them against brewery tap rooms that have a pub feel to do them, and happen to be a brewery, this isnít it. If you judge it as craft beer in its truest sense, two guys with a dream busting their ass to make great beers, this is it. I enjoyed my visit, and appreciated the time Evan spent with me.

This is the best brewery on LI (and probably in NY). These guys put out awesome beer (I have rated 3 beers a 4 or higher). Their IPA is outstanding. As far as their location, itís not exactly easy to find (itís in a warehouse, there are no signs from the road, and no parking lot). Nonetheless, people seem to find it and the Saturday afternoon tastings are always well-frequented. They actually have more than 5 taps on now, maybe more like 10. You never know exactly what will be on tap as they are constantly producing kegs, but they do make plenty of new stuff. They give out free samples of all their beers and do growler fills each Saturday. Very similar to Hill Farmstead (except located in a more densely settled area haha). Make sure you bring a lot of growlers because you will want to get some fills. This is a great new brewery in NY, one of the best up and coming breweries. Right now it is not getting a lot of press, but it is a real hidden gem.

I noticed that this wasnít on the proximity map and so I added the location. Unfortunately, I do not work in the area any more and so havenít been able to stop in recently, but this is where Barrier is made. It is incredibly difficult to find and is actually not even visible from the street.
Inside of the brewery is very industrial/warehouse, not by design... it is just being truthful. That said, Evan Kline is exceptionally friendly and has a long memory for customers. Not the cheapest growlers Iíve seen, but the beer is very experimental and risky which makes it very fun.
They are increasing the number of taps they have all the time. They have at least a dozen now.
