Volo is a decent beer bar in a city where craft beer is still not widely available and the macro breweries dominate tap lists everywhere. But Toronto has so much more to offer the true craft beer geek...places with more innovative tap lists with better food, better prices and a better ambiance. The house brewed ales are fairly mediocre, and anything from out of province is massively overpriced. Also, the music is loud and annoying and you have to stand in line at the bar when you want to order. Staff are very knowledgeable about the beer though.

Excellent place in downtown Toronto. Great service and a wide tap and bottle list. Cheaper than expected regarding the quality of the beer and the location of the place. A must when in Toronto.

Nice place to visit, good service, great selection, good food; the only bone I could pick is the overly loud and annoying music inside. Frequent tap takeovers allowing one to sample beers often impossible to otherwise obtain locally - sadly on such weekends the volume of music served by a sadistic DJ is even louder, making conversation across the table impossible. WiFi does not appear to be functional.

Located in Downtown Toronto, in the busy Yonge St., this cozy bar caters for the conscious beer clientel, although fans of whisky and wine do have a good reason to come here, too. The selection is truly impressive. The number of taps, all featuring decent Canadian craft beer, exceeds the anumber of letter in the alphabet, and the number of bottled beers is equally decent. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Reasonable prices. Did not try the food on my visit here but the menu seems to satisfy every taste. Will gladly come back again.

Truly this is the best beer bar in Toronto! Iíve been coming to Toronto a couple of times a year & checking out ratebeer venues for the last couple of years, but always missed this one out on the basis it would be too busy. I wish Iíd tried it sooner! I visited both Saturday & Sunday evening around 17:30. Both times it was nicely busy but with plenty of spaces to sit, perhaps helped by the beautiful weather, meaning the patio was popular. I sat inside but right next to the open floor to ceiling windows at the front meaning I could still catch the rays! With 30 taps including 6 cask, I was spoilt for choice & tried several sample sizes. The rustic wooden interior is completely to my taste. Bar staff (all female on both visits) were friendly & helpful. I didnít eat but was tempted by being able to put together a platter of meats, cheeses etc. BarVolo is really easy to find & get to, being just round the corner from Wellesley subway. I canít believe itís taken me this long to try it, but I plan to be back at least twice a year as long as my job brings me back to Toronto!

Wonderful beer bar. I really dig the design and layout of the bar. The wooden booths and large windows allowing natural light through creates an awesome ambiance. The patio is also well utilised. My most recent visit was just after opening and the bustling atmosphere was excellent and didnít feel over crowded. Solid tap selection of Ontario and Quebec beer, and not to mention a couple of their own house beers. Oh, and thereís also six cask ales too. Food is of good quality. The service from the bar staff is excellent and clearly knowledgeable. A must visit.

Visited on a Tuesday evening. Not much place inside in that dark cramped bar, but plenty of seats on the patio. Major drawback, service is at the bar only, but our barman was really friendly and knowledgeable. Extensive selection (about 30 taps) of Ontarioís seasonals, wines and ciders. It also always seems to have a couple kegs from Trou du Diable and Dieu du ciel. Solid bottle list, from memory they had a couple Mikkeller, Oud Beersel, De Molen, De Ranke and more. Food-wise, itís mostly sandwiches and cheese/charcuterie boards, we had the latter and was excellent. Though I liked my experience here, I wonít be my first stop the next time Iím in town.

The mecca of Torontoís craft beer scene. Best tap selection in town, great rotation, some rare seasonals and collaborations, nice vibe and good food too. If itís not enough, they also have an amazing bottle selection. A must visit place in Toronto!

excellent pub/restaurant. numerous trappists and other european brews, like Chimay, Konigshoeven, Mikkeller, and Struise. Decent American selection as well, including Rogue among others. Prices are very high, but part of that is just being in Canada, and the selection is worth it. Didnít have the food, but looked delicious on the menu. Best place I could find in the city. Updated 1/20/15: Second time back at Volo. Amazing draft list that was probably 90% great Ontario craft brews, a few from Quebec, and I think thatís actually it. Very solid bottle list; had a DDC Solstice DíEte. Do not miss this place.
