This is a pretty solid place. Its in a great location in downtown Royal Oak. The beers are pretty good and the food is good too. Nothing crazy fantastic but solid. I have been here a couple times and will be back at some point.

Nice restaurant type brewpub. Fancier menu with dinners as well as sandwiches and pizza. Full bar and wine list. They had eight of their own beers on tap that ranged from blonde to stout, with a few belgians thrown in. The beers I had were well made. Maybe not a destination but worth the stop if in the area.

I almost missed this place as it wasnít listed as a brewpub and it most decidedly is. Eight beers on tap, mostly Belgian. The beers were above average and a lot better than Royal Oak. My hard to please wife really liked the beers so I let her have most of the sampler so we could stop at another place on the day. The service wasnít bad though checking out was a challenge.

i saw they had a lot of award winning beers, so i stopped in for a sampler. very underwhelmed by the beers. average, textbook beers with very little personality or creativity. food was unremarkable.

(Visited 08/2011): Bastone is located in the heart of Royal Oak at the corner of S. Main and 5th. Metered parking is available in the surrounding area. The interior is pretty cozy with a small bar area on the right and high backed booths and tables in the restaurant area. They have a patio as well. Brick and tile motif. Above the bar hang signs featuring each of their standard beers. Bastone serves 8 beers including a seasonal or two, and a sampler is available. They range from Blonde, Pils, and Wit to a Dubbel, Tripel and Saison Noir. All of the beers are above average. They also have a few bottles from Jolly Pumpkin and North Peak. Service on a relatively slow weekday (I arrived right as they opened). The bartender was knowledgeable about their beers and of other recommendations for the area. The food at Bastone has a Belgian tilt, and my pomme frites and sandwich were good. Overall this is a pretty solid spot. Maybe not a fair comparison but I think Brugge is a lot better, however this is still a place worth visiting in the area.

huge open space, tons of room but a really small bar area... selection of 6 regulars and 2 seasonal drafts, all were decent enough to have again... service not beer centered but pleasant... food is very very average, the chicken seem fake grilled, the bread too toasted and the fries were soggy... recommend having a sampler but donít dine here

Visited while hitting all the Royal Oak breweries. Nice inside, but not inviting, especially for a brewery. Very formal feeling. The beer was very unimpressive, even though they seem to win awards at GABF, but they are in styles that I do not care for, so I take that into account. I probably wonít go back, Royal Oak Brewery is a better option.

Very upscale urban Bistro with beers that struggled to be average. I would have liked to have tried the food, but... Best thing about the place was all of the good looking women which far out numbered males.
