Traditional in the sense that there are lots of tourists swaying and singing along to the hits of yesteryear played out on an accordion accompanied by a recording. Beers aren’t anything to draw, and the amount of fat on the meat, be it from pig or ox, is ludicrous enough to make the spectacle worth a good laugh. Honestly, I’d come back.

Massive place (in Munich, this goes without saying). Labyrithine and equipped with tasty Hacker-Pschoor beer. Our stag party enjoyed it’s visit here, especially because of the Oompah band which were doing a sterling job.

Very, very easy to find, smack in the centre of the tourist area and city shops. Right on the corner of Marienplatz, with a large seating, outside drinking area, it is ideal for watching other tourists looking at the Rathouse and the sights around. Inside it is all light coloured wood and a huge staircase up to the toilets, very posh and airy all round. Busy outside at all times, inside it is a quiet haven for shoppers and people eating (although you can eat outside too). The food looked good, normal heavy Bavarian fare, loads of meat. My draught Salvator was super; other Hacker-Pschorr beers are also available on tap, as well as some bottled beers. The service was fine, a grumpy old lady served me this year, but she got what I ordered and didn’t mess us about, so that’s good in my books.

A large bavarian style restaurant near Marienplatz. The prices are surprisingly cheap in comparison to the other restaurants in the nearby. Standard selection of Hacher-Pschorr beers fresh from the tap.

I was there because of a business trip and my friends suggested me to eat in this very characteristic place. The pig’s knuckle I’ve eat was very tasty, as well as the two curious ball shaped potatoes... Very nice place, even if it’s not the right one to drink craft beer. Anyway, I’ll come back for sure, the next time I’ll go to Munich.

Nice large place centered in the middle of of the city. They have some very nice local food. The service was a bit slow but the place was packed. It can get a bit loud in there as well. Over all a nice place to go when in town and needing a break from the brewpubs.

Just on the Marienplatz. Tourist trap, quite pricey, but looks nice. Typical german beer hall with one man band playing Bavarian music (on evenings whole band). On two floors, nice decorated balconies, a bit too dark even on the sunny day. Big minus goes for the WC that you have to pay.

Located in the heart of the Marienplatz (just to the left on the Residenz). New, clean atmosphere. Good selection of Hacker-Pschorr beers. Modern feel to the place, lacks "authenticity" of other places in Munich. Nonetheless, good beers and typical German beer hall atmosphere. Wave to the accordian player, and turn off your flash if you take his picture!
