62 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 Beergeek23322 (25) Chesapeake, Virginia | March 27, 2013 Small location in an industrial area close to NAS Oceana. Always friendly service and fun to stop by to see what’s going on and what’s new. Samplers offered at a low cover price. | 48 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 11/20 GT2 (344) Riverslime, California | January 22, 2013 Very small tasting room with good opening hours, nestled in a warehouse industrial zone outside of VA Beach. Ample free parking. Only room inside for about 6-8 people. 5 Taps on when I was there, I don’t think they even had 7 tap lines. You can get a flight of 4...leaving the fifth beer I guess needing to order a full glass of? -__- Beer quality was average to slightly above average. The DIPA and RIS were both very nice. The Berliner and others quite odd with the Altbier lacto infected. They sold two bottles to go, their DIPA and a one-off BA Barleywine. Growler fills as well as keg sales. Staff was I guess not so interested in chatting with us or seemingly not very happy to have us there despite us being 2 of 4 people inside the crammed space. The staff I figured out from reading the newspaper articles on the walls were the husband/wife owners and brewers it seems. Overall, the Beach Brewing stuff was hard to find in bottles around town and was barely on tap anywhere in the vicinity, so this was really the only way to try their stuff. Good for ticking, will be worth the trip if their BA Barleywine delivers. Prices were good- $5 for 4 sample flight and $3-5 a full glass pour. You can do 64oz growler fills or 32oz "grenade" fills. | 66 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 15/20 Travlr (999) Washington, Washington DC | November 25, 2012 This has to be one of the smallest tasting rooms I’ve ever seen, although in good weather on weekends there is some space outdoors. The beers are very solid, four available when I visited, plus another in bottles. They just installed a TV to attract the football-watching crowd. Worth a stop, especially since it’s the only craft brewery in Virginia Beach. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 beernovice39 (196) Montana | October 1, 2012 Nice tap room. Great service and beer. Ran into the owner of Tequesta Brewing Company while there, doing the same thing we were....touring beer spots. | 76 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 TheBeerGod (104) Newport News, Virginia | September 22, 2012 Small drinking room at the brewery (in an industrial park) that serves Beach Brewing’s beers. Hubcap Grill shows up and provides food on Saturdays. They also have cask beers on Saturdays. Went today (but not my first time) to get the soon to be kicked Ghost Ship Pale Ale. Called first to verify. Was told it might not last. Checked traffic and called back. They said they’d hold it for me. Couldn’t believe how awesome that was! Got there and had cask Hammerhead IPA with mango and habanero. Also had the Festbier. Filled growlers with Ghost Ship & the Hammerhead mango and habanero cask. Awesome customer service and beers. Love me some Beach Brewing! | 76 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 shrubber85 (164) Greenville, Indiana | August 24, 2012 In an industrial park - small but friendly place. Beers I tried were all solid. A nice place - worth a stop if you’re in the area. | 74 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 Braudog (655) Hampton, Virginia | April 29, 2012 This is a nice, cozy and neat little tasting room nestled in a suburban industrial park. For the time being (VA’s rules change soon), they offer a $5 pint glass that comes with about 2-3 oz of each of their current taps to sample in sequence. You can also buy whatever bottles they have available and/or 64/32oz growlers of their drafts to go, including on the day we visited a seasonal only available at the brewery. The beers from Beach are packed with character, and their imperial stout being a standard-setter. Definitely worth a visit if you find yourself in the area. Cool little local brewery run by good people. Brewery #577. | 64 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 12/20 jeremytoni (139) Swedesboro, New Jersey | January 15, 2012 Nice little tasting room with a good selection of their beers. | 78 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 Radek Kliber (165) Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Poland | January 12, 2012 Just of Damn Neck in new Industrial Park. Small tatsing room. Very , very friendly team that is great to have talk with. Solid beer selection that is planned only to grew better. Positive memories. Place to visit when in Virginia Beach. | 80 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 Drake (392) Ivy, Virginia | July 15, 2011| Updated November 13, 2012 Despite the nearby bucolic street names, this is an industrial park, albeit a nice one, if such a thing exists. Very small tasting room, but it remains busy. The assistant brewer was there behind the bar, and he was very friendly. Beers range from a little weak to very good. Parking is fine. They offer 32 and 64 ounce growler fills. They call the 32 ounce growlers "bombers." Growlers (screwcap) are $5, which is pretty cheap for this state. They offer samples of the full range for $5, and you get to keep the pint glass. They waive the $5 if you buy a growler. Overall, a nice stop.
Stopped by a few days ago for the first time in 16 months. They now offer a flight for $5. Beer quality has improved overall and the time I visited they had two standouts. There is a cask every Saturday. Old score was 70, and it will go up to reflect the improvements. |
