74 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 16/20 Ungstrup (345) Citizen of the universe, Denmark | November 28, 2010 Situated in what seems like a very nice laid back town - close to wine country, not bad. We had 9 new beer when we visited at RBSG 2009 and that is on top of the very nice bottled beers that they put out. Huge place mainly kept in wood, with a very long bar. I’ll definately come back, when I’m in the area. | 64 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 13/20 JohnnyJ (96) San Diego, California | October 13, 2010 Located in a snazzy area, seemed expensive. The brew pub, was pretty standard. No specials on tap when I was there. Bar, stools, tables, chairs, this place unfortunately didn’t spark my interest. | 72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 JaBier (69) Capital City, Ohio | August 24, 2010 Stopped in here for lunch on 8/6/10. Typical looking brewpub (which is all good), although the patio looked especially inviting. Too bad I don’t like eating outside. Food was good, but didn’t live up to the hype I heard around their burgers. Lamb burger was decent but a bit dry. The upside was the pesto mayo. I hate mayonnaise, but the pesto made this not only tolerable, but delicious and a great complement to the burger. Beer selection was okay. They were out of two beers (Hop Rod Rye and Big Bear Black, are you f’n serious?!!!), but the Whangdoodle made up for it. Service was solid. | 66 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 13/20 MartinT (521) Montreal, Quebec | August 4, 2010 I was very excited to finally come to Healdsburg and try the great BRepublic creations straight from the source. The Racer 5 I started with was as good as the bottles I’ve been enjoying now and then over the last 5-6 years or so, but the house "specials" were another story altogether. A wet mop aroma seemed to mar all three, whatever style they were. Cleaning issues in the brewpub? Anyway, the location in pretty Healdsburg is nice and the terrace out back is friendly, so I would like to come back eventually. I admit I would stray from the "new" brewpub-only brews next time since I was burned this time around. Hop Rod Rye and Racer 5 (amongst others) still rule. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 Codysseus (10) Nevada | June 11, 2010 The atmosphere is a little off the wall, but so are the brews. I think Racer X is the standard, but the Hop Rod Rye is an excellent brew with just the off the wallness you’d expect from a place like this. The food is also a good attraction. | 78 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 15/20 DeadGirl (76) San Diego, California | April 5, 2010 Headed over to this place after a long weekend of snowboarding. Bear Republic is more a restaurant than any other brewing company I’ve visited. Kids are almost everywhere. But we sat at the bar and so that didn’t bother us much. The staff is way friendly and cool. We met Dan after being there for nearly two or three hours. He’s probably one of the coolest guys out there. And he knows his shit, too. Enjoyed talking to him and enjoyed tasting every beer on tap in that place. Their bottled beers are in a totally different league than beers only on draft at the brewery. I only wish they had X when I was there... | 80 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 CheersMate (147) Fremont (Seattle), Washington | March 11, 2010 Man, Healdsburg is cool as shit. There were so many fucking wine-o’s walking around drinking, and drunk as well. Very close to Lagunitas and Russian River. Wasn’t expecting such a restaurant type feel, but this was the case. Similar to Russian River, but obviously, Russian River seems to focus more on the beer. Nice selection of brews, that I have not tried, seen bottled, and did not try while I was there. Bartenders were prompt, and the other folks at the bar were pretty laid back. This place was CROWDED! Given the crowd the service was still amazing. From what I remember, the prices were fair. They had everything available for growler fills. Cool experience in a nice part of the Sonoma Valley. I wouldn’t worry about drinking on the streets here, considering everyone was either drunk, or didn’t give a shit. | 72 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 14/20 mkade8883 (28) Chicago, Illinois | February 7, 2010 About 12 Bear Republic beers on tap including their regulars and some special brews. We all got burgers, which were real good and hit the spot. Their garlic fries were pretty good, but way overpriced. Their soup special was clam chowder, which was tasty though a lot more bacon flavor than clam. Our waitress was the shit, and we had a generally good time. | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 Slopoke (10) San Francisco, California | December 10, 2009 Good Beer, decent food, Great cheese plate. If you were a brewery t-shirt on Tuesdays you get a deal on the beer. Racer 5 is classic, and even hoppier from the source, The Brown was a nice mild ale witha dry finish. The locals seem to be really Cool. Definitely the place to go in Healdsburg. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 joet (72) Santa Rosa, California | October 19, 2009 Very enthusiastic staff, typical American brewpub but always with very good beer. Go often for choice options never seen bottled or outside the area. Very under rated IMO. Great schooner program. Specials are also way better than average - Tuesday wild game with beer pairings was very cool. |
