Handy for Newton St Cyres station in deepest darkest Devon (getting a train to stop is a challenge other than a Sunday!) this is a lovely little pub. Nice traditional feel to the place as we landed on a busy Sunday afternoon for a roast lunch. Tried the range of Beer Engine beers, all in good nick as youíd expect as not got many miles on them. Busy with locals, service was friendly and quick. Donít see the beers too often and I do like to try them at the local pub. Worth a trek.

Sitting back and trainspotting seems to be a great pass time of this old converted Railway Hotel situated smack bang in the middle of nowhere that is the country lanes of Newton St Cyres. 4 of their finest on handpump along with two guest ales and a few chilled draughts to whet the whistle of those not into craft beer. Downstairs is an odd art gallery filled with cartoons of a local artist which were used for the pump tags of their beers. Nice cosy porch out back on the rail side, rather limited parking out front given the design of the lot it is built on. Rickety, low beams, the íLí bar divided into two with a small dining at one end. Hop vines dangle from the beams and more artwork can be found skattered about. The staff and locals are a friendly lot too, rich with their Debín brogue. Well worth a stop if ever in this region.

A converted old Railway Hotel on the Barnstable to Exeter Line, popularly known as the Tarka Line. This is now Devons oldest Brewery! Recently a CAMRA pub of the year for the area, the beer is good and the surroundings are comfortable.
