78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20
This place seems more beer oriented than other bars in the vicinity. Quite a bit more of a selection.
Cannot say much about the atmosphere as I visited the place in the afternoon just to pick up my order placed via their web store - casaberilor.ro. And even if their web system failed to registered order properly, the staff was nice enough to sell me whatever beers I wanted at the lower web price right from the bar.

I wish this place opened earlier on Saturday; it would have bought me a lot more time there. Smallish place, not crowded at five on Saturday. Bartender spoke English and had decent beer knowledge. They had three taps dedicated to a new Bucharest microbrewery (Ground Zero) while I was there, including the first Romanian IPA. Not half bad for a first effort. Service was good, place was not too smoky (mainly cause it was not too busy). They had a bunch of interesting bottles that would have like to stick around for, but family calls. For Romania, this place basically rocks.

If you like beer and you find yourself in Bucharest, congratulations, you have now found your home away from home. The selection would earn it respect anywhere else on the continent, more so in Romania, a *long* way away from where these beers are made. Kudos!

July 2013. The place to be if you are a beer fan in Bucharest. Very nice atmosphere, excellent service (the guys know their beers pretty well), proper glassware. There are other beer places in Bucharest, some maybe even have a larger selection (though I m not 100 percent sure), but this is the only one where you can see the beers are carefully selected and not just thrown in the menu. On the downside (for me, at least), they do not have any american beers, but it s understandable, because it s not too easy to bring them to Romania. Oh, and the menu is not up to date, so make sure you always ask the waiter what goodies they have outside of it.

Visited April 2013. Quieter and smaller than the first Beer O’Clock, friendlier staff the day we arrived. Don’t think that there are seats outside. Arrive early if you are non-smoker. Good prices for foreigners, extensive menu and proper glassware.

It’s the place with the largest selection of beers in town. They even have the Brewdog Tactical Nuclear Penguin or Sink the Bismark, which are definitely worth a try at least once :)

With its other branch not far away in Pajaj Villacrosse, probably the best variety of beers in the city. Prices are good for a foreigner and the staff helpful and know their beers. More space and easier to find than the Villacrossei branch.

The place is situated in the old town, in an area with a lot of bars with loud music and poor beer choices. Quite a few wooden tables and benches outside in the street (pedestrian zone), their main disadvantage being the lack of sunshade. Inside, hardly any decoration distracts from the beer, but smoking is allowed. The focus of this bar is on foreign beers only. There is hardly anything else on the menu (peanuts, coffee, juice, and some sandwiches). The excellent choice of taps includes the Czech Koutský 12° Světlý Ležák, BrewDog’s Punk IPA and 5 a.m. Saint as well as Ankerbräu Hefe-Weizen. The draught beers I had were in very good condition. The large beer menu is strong on beers from Belgium, UK (Mainly Fuller’s, Brew Dog and Greene King) and German Hefeweizen, plus some more beers from Germany, the Czech Republic and the USA. No Romanian beers on the menu, though. Not all the beers on the menu are available at all times. Still probably the best selection in Bucharest, with regard to foreign beers. Staff is friendly and speaks English. Beer is served in appropriate glasses, often the matching one. Recommended! (Let me add that this place was easier to find than the smaller Beer O’Clock 1 near Calea Victoriei)
