74 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 shoulderbroken (121) Tokyo, Japan | January 6, 2013 I don’t mind this place. The selection is good and the prices are sometimes a little bit better than the other city centre shops. They had lots of De La Senne stuff that I haven’t found anywhere else. Yeah, other places are cheaper, but if you are short of time and are in the centre it’s a good place to go. | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 17/20 fantti (56) , Finland | June 9, 2013 Visited in may 2011 for a quick visit. Nice beer shop with old shelfs filled with beer. Great selection of Belgian beers and a dream place for a beer enthusiast. | 66 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 12/20 savnac (268) Anchorage, Alaska | June 6, 2013 Smallish bottle shop in town that is packed with beers. Decent selection with a few beers I hadn’t seen elsewhere in Brussels. Prices were very high though, there were a few things that interested me but the prices were just too high. Worth checking out but beware of the prices. Inga tunga rariteter. Standard cantillons. Inga westys. En och annan import, mikkeller stone. | 74 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 jackl (215) London, England | April 23, 2013 Definitely a step up from the tourist trap that is Bier Tempel. Decent selection of Belgian brews plus a few random micros from around Europe (Mikkeller, Thornbridge). I was able to score a Zomer for a pretty good price. So no complaints. The owner seemed to be friendly. Overall, pretty decent. It doesn’t hurt that this is near a bunch of other places too. | 84 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 sdcourtney (14) Berlin, Germany, | April 9, 2013 Nice store, a bit touristy (not as bad as Bier Tempel), but a good selection (not quite as good as Beer Temple). The ambiance is a bit more enjoyable, but the prices are slightly high as is expected from the location. | 68 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 14/20 Kristophe (72) , Sweden | February 7, 2013 Pretty nice selection of beers, but kind of a weird shop. Well worth a visit if you’re nearby though. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 Glouglouburp (361) Montreal, Quebec | February 2, 2013 There are three main beer stores in the heart of the touristy Brussels. The more popular Bier Tempel, this less busy Beer Planet and the more beer-geek-friendly Délices et Caprices. Bier Tempel has the less interesting beer selection and is aimed more at regular tourists because of its nice selection of gift boxes, glasswares and such. Beer Planet and Délices et Caprices both have a good selection. You can score some decent items (limited Struise, etc.). Beer Planet fun to shop at with its nice display with lots of wood. I was surprised to find some cool stuff there, even by my beer-geek standards. Some hard to find Fantômes (like Saint-Roch), all the current Struise Black Damnations variations and some obscure Saisons for me to tick. Etc. I did buy some stuff that appeared to be past their prime at Beer Planet so beware. Délices et Caprices appeared to have a smaller selection but more focussed on interesting stuff. The staff seem to be more knowledgeable and is probably the place to go if you want someone to guide you through you purchase. But I didn’t find anything interesting there that I hadn’t already bought at Beer Planet. The prices are typical downtown Brussels. If you cannot go shopping at cheaper good beerstores outside the city (Alvinne, etc.) then Beer Planet + Délices et Caprices are there for you. They are very close to each other and both are worth visiting. | 94 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 19/20 Grzesiek79 (51) Radom, Poland | January 30, 2013| Updated March 7, 2013 Super sklep z wielkim wyborem głównie piw belgijskich. Szacunek. | 38 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 1/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 1/20 flavirufus (1) | January 26, 2013| Updated March 7, 2013 Don’t bother with this place, as far as internet orders goes at least. Had been in communication with the person I believe is the owner. Had asked a couple questions on beers that were coming in and shipments to the USA and they were answered promptly. He indicated to me what when I was ready to place the order just feel free to do so. They got a very nice shipment of Cantillon in and I had a full 17 bottle box in my cart. Upon trying to click the USA shipping option that was just there a day ago, I noticed it was gone. I have since emailed about 4 times asking what the problem was, and even if they ship to the US anymore. That was 2 weeks ago and no response at all to any of the emails. I’m not understanding what even happened. Their list has since been updated several times so I know they are getting the inquiries. I had a few friends that were also wanting to place an order and inquired about US shipping and none of their emails were replied to either. Very disappointing that they would let such a large order just be ignored and even stranger that they won’t even respond anymore. |
