A bar started by Peter van den Arend of the Arendsnest so you know quality is assured. Especially for American beers. No Bud but good breweries like Left Hand, Uncommon etc. People know about beer and the selection on tap is great, let alone the bottles. In the middle of the city too.

OK - being an american, my rating will skew down a little, since I’ve had, or have access too, most every beer here. But (and it’s a big but) - for a selection of American beers in Amsterdam (or really, anywhere in that part of the world) - it’s really, really good. Most all of the ’big boys; of American craft are represented. You’d be hard-pressed to find this variety in most bars in the States, really. Atmosphere is a little ’new wave’ for my taste, but if you’re looking for American craft in Amsterdam - this is your place. Prices are high if you’re used to getting these beers locally, but not horrible given the location. We had Alesmith IPA, GD Hercules and some others tat I’m forgetting and all were quite fresh and not ridiculously priced given the distance from source.

This bar opened by Peter van den Arend of the Arendsnest. Especially for American beers and a very decent selection. But I did not feel so cozy.

As I wandered in from my walk south, I was the only patron at 1530. The friendly bartenders said it was a slow start. A two level bar in the rear with the main bar in front with a spattering of tables as well. Sidewalk seating for warmer days. 35 taps of an array of impressive brews from the states. I spoke with the bartenders for some time. overall I agree that this bar may be geared for a younger crowd...but the tap list was still a good reason for me to stop in and not get rained on. If this place is hopping, its gonna be loud. It was slow and quiet when I was there (except for me talking). A decent stop.

Nice beer bar in the centre of Amsterdam. It’s good to see that someone has taken the initiative of bringing American craft beers to Europe. With a wide selection of US beers and Scandinavian beers, this has enough to offer for several nights. Food is nothing special, just some cheeses and nuts. They do serve some trappist cheese.

Got to know this a while ago thanks to Ster, who runs the place; impressive in embracing the American craft beer culture more so than any other place in the Low Countries, with ever-changing taps, which also include American-style craft beers from other countries. Not cheap, very (if not overly) busy at times and I cannot imagine spending a whole night here when it is as crowded as it was last Friday, especially not when herds of drunken tourists populate the place. I will, however, go back for sure, for the sheer quality and quantity of their taps - another feature seldomly seen outside of the States. A whole experience, that is for sure.

Quite a big place in the middle of Amsterdam. Only US beers available and they are quite expensive but overall what you can expect. Great service and loads of beers on tap.
