This is a very nice beer bar in the Dam Square vicinity that specializes in American and Scandinavian beers. There is a short bar in front of 20 some taps dispensing mosly Amnerican, but also Dutch and Belgian beers. I was able to find some great American beers that I cannot get in Northern California,.The barkeep was friendly and helpful and the owner, Peter, showed up just before I left. He started this bar aftger visiting many of the better beer places in California. His original bar, t’Arendsnest, was already a great Dutch beer bar, so this is a logical expansion. Great ambience, great beer.

Kind of a fake place. The owner calls it "American Beer Bar" but most of the beers are European, not American. Not even all the beers are what you could call "American style". For example, Hertog Jan is a Dutch mass market brewery (two of their beers are on tap), Leffe (also on tap) is a commercial Belgian brewery that also makes nothing "American style."
If you are over 30 years old, you’ll probably feel out of place there. The bar staff are also very young. So, a place appealing to young, inexperienced drinkers. If that describes you, you’ll probably like it.

The best beer bar in Amsterdam (mostly because I like American styles)! 30 taps that can change at any time, nice selection of bottled ones too, some really rare ones (vintage, home aged), though a little pricey. The place is really great, with 2 very comfortable sofas that keep you there for hours!!

Very nice American beer bar in Amsterdam, that is what the bartender said they were. Not that many European selections. They had Dark Lord for 200 Euros for example. Right around the corner from De Bierkoning. Well worth the visit.

Visited at 7pm on Thursday 25/09/14, place was fairly busy but I managed to grab a stool at the bar. Service seemed fine but was a little slow in places. 30 taps, displayed behind the bar in an annoying manner (to this Bois anyhow!) beer name first, brewer second ....aaaagghhhh!
Selection was solid enough with tap offerings from the likes of the Kernel, Siren, Mikkeller and various US brewers. The bottle list ran at well over 100. Not sure if there was a printed list but they all seemed to be listed on a chalk board opposite the bar which was a little awkward to navigate with people milling about.
The place itself was dark, wooden and fairly atmospheric, split over 2 levels.
I wasn’t blown away by the Beer Temple but a solid venue well worth a visit none the less. Just round the corner from Bierkoning and a 7/8 minute walk to Arendsnest or De wildeman.

Wonderful bar, where you get many great beers from US and Europe fresh from tap. Also a huge bottle selection. Some rare stuff! Almost no beers from Netherlands though, this is more for US craft beer. The bar is also very cosy, like a students pub, with nice alternative music. Prices are reasonable. Overall highly recommended!

Nice bar with a good choice of beers on draft and bottles (mostly americans) No service at the table. A drunk local men were disturbing all the tables and the person behind the bar didn’t do anything about it so maybe a lack of training on that part.
Nice that they had the two very high ABV beer from dogfish head to try by the onze at a reasonnable price too.
Would definately recommend you pay them a visit!
