I was pleased with this new bar, just minutes from De Bierkoning. Good portfolio of tap and bottled beers. Barmen was very friendly. He still has to work on his beer knowledge, but that is a question in putting in hours. Not too expensive, considering the trade prizes for these beers.

american beer bar in amsterdam. if you are looking for beers from the area, netherlands biercafe and wildeman are better options. chalkboard beer menu on wall.

I could not add anything to the entry by skortila. We have to see how it evolves as a beer bar, but I certainly hope this is a step in the good direction for dutch fans of american styled beers. Skortila: Place visited together with Caesar at a quiet sunday afternoon. Cosey place, Peter himself as barman, so good talk about beer. I was lookin forward to go to this place and it was fantastic. Loads of American beers, also some rare americans on tap, hard to get anywhere else in Europe. The standard templebeer is a perfect sessionbeer for a start. Prices are high for the dutch, but more than reasonable for beergeeks. I will definately visit again.

Visited this place on the opening weekend 2009, the placer was not 100% ready for business, the paint was still wet. Nice selection of US beers on tap, not beer on every tap when visited, but they also had a good bottle selection. We sat on the benches outside and enjoyed the late glimpses of summer.

This is a very good bar located not far from De Bierkonig. The taplist features about 30 beers from around the globe. On my visit, I tried some cool stuff from Australia that I had never seen in Europe. The usual Euro craft suspects like Mikkeller were well represented. The bottle list is strong. The lone barman did an admirable job of keeping everyone’s glass filled. The value’s OK, reflective of the limited nature of the beer. Overall, a must-visit if you’re in the area. Pretty good.

only been here twice. One just after it was open and once for a beer tasting where one of the Brewdog brewers was there. I love this bar! Pity it’s not in the Hague but it’s a lot closer then the US ;-) I’m a big fan of American beers and have travelled to the US several times. They have a very good selection of beers from around the world. Only the best beers get into this bar!

I missed the opening night (which I heard was very enjoyable) but managed to pop in the next day. It has a very nice feel to it, lots of wood but also reminded me of a classic American diner with a Statue of Liberty and booths. It was great to see Peter behind the bar. There are lots of taps, not all of them active, serving up some Belgian beers but largely American ones. These will obviously rotate over time and as the clientelle picks up. But I was positively surprised by the considerable bottle list of American and Scandinavian beers--much more extensive than their website and with hard to get brewers like Three Floyds. I am sure I will be coming back here a lot. Tonight I only tried a Goose Island Honkers. They probably have 40 beers I haven’t tried yet.

Excellent beer bar run by a beer geek for other beer geeks. Centrally located fairly close to both In De Wildeman and Arendsnest. Run by beer guru Peter van der Arend, who also runs Arendsnest. Modern bar, not very big with a small seating area outside on the street. Around 30 taps with beers mainly from the Netherlands, US, Belgium and anything else of excellent quality. Extensive list of bottled beers as well. Very friendly and knowledgebale staff. When abroad, I usually try to find a place with a large selection of local beers and in that case Arendsnest is probably a better choice, but if I was Dutch and wanted to try something foreign and very good, this should be the place to go to. And I will drop by as well, on the way to and from Arendsnest. A must visit in Amsterdam.

Small, cosy pub quite centrally located. Service is good and they do not play too loud music. Not much to a menu when it comes to food but they surely have a great selection of taps and bottles. Definately worth visiting.
