82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 2/10 VALUE 4/10 OVERALL 16/20 kensabahi (1) | March 8, 2010 The store has completely changed since the last time I visited. The son of the old man has taken over I found out. They have more selection now than before, great glasses selection and certain beers that I dont find in brussel or Brugge. All beers you find also cold, before they didnt have this. Prices have also changed, less pricey now than before, except for the West Vleteren, 6 euro.. They are open from 10.00 am - 11.00 pm. The son is more helpfull than the father. Overall I like what the son has done to the shop, much better than 3 years ago. | 72 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 n00bface (14) Minneapolis, | January 4, 2013 I think this place is much better than it seems. Not a huge selection, but what they do have isn’t bad by any sense of the word. Managed to find a retired bottles of 3 Fonteinen for a very reasonable price, so I left happy. The guy working behind the counter helped me find a couple of things, so the service is better than I expected too. | 70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 armando629 (74) Budapest, Hungary | March 10, 2010 Little bit overpriced shop with a lot of famous belgian beers, but nothing very special. Nice ambience, friendly stuff. If You are in Antwerp, and Youare only in Antwerp, You must visit the shop. | 70 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 JanEric (21) Meppel, Netherlands | March 15, 2010 Small store, just south of the Grote Markt. It’s under restauration, but open. It also sells cigarettes and liqour. At the back (and in the window) ther are beers. On top are the glasses. Also gift packs, for example a glass Kwak with some bottles. Small bottles are 2,50, big ones 7,50. glasses are 5 euro. Friendly staff. Nice for a souvenir, but I know better beer stores.
| 66 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 12/20 ogivlado (270) Zagreb, Croatia | September 3, 2008 There’s 280 kinds of bere here (written on the banner above the entrence, and on front window). Looks old and dusty. Good selection of trappists, few rare beers. Also few beers avaliable cold from the fridge. | 66 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 12/20 Dogbrick (561) Columbus, Ohio | June 17, 2012 (Visited 12/2011): This beer store, which doesn’t earn any points for creativity in their name is located in the highly-trafficked Town Square area.
The interior is relatively well-organized with shelves on both sides, categorized for the most part by brewer. Over 200 beers available pretty much all from Belgium. They had Westy 12 behind the counter as well.
Service was decent, the clerk was kind enough to steer me toward a Westy and was friendly and accommodating despite the language barrier.
Overall there are surely better stores in the city but given our time constraints it was a nice spot to stop quickly and grab a few beers on the way back to our tour bus. | 64 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 14/20 Balazs (36) Budapest, Hungary | March 14, 2010 Small store in a house currently under renovations. Older gentleman behind the cashier, will let you look around in peace. Some nice gift-packs, and some decoration items here. If you make it to the Grote Markt, might as well stop by, he also sells cooled beers that you can consume right away. | 60 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 10/20 3fourths (1082) Straßgiech, Germany | June 4, 2008| Updated April 20, 2013 Debated listing this store but now that Bierwinkel is closed this is the best thing in Antwerpen. Small shop located on the SW edge of the grotemarkt, old man running the show but he’s quiet and lets you look around. Dusty shelves with decent selection of trappist and lambic bottles, nothing super rare but a few things that I have not found outside of Brussels and Brugge. They also have Westvleteren 8 and 12 for 7-8 euro each. | 58 AMBIANCE 1/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 14/20 BelgBeerGeek (32) Antwerp, Belgium | May 6, 2010| Updated April 20, 2013 i know better stores than this especially when the store located at vogelmarkt was still there , but i think this shop has a nice stock of special and not commonly seen beers like beer from bokrijk , mongozo fruitbeers etc ... he also carrys a quite big stock on proper glassware , and has some beer packs with glasses like : leute bokbier , pauwels kwak , tripel karmeliet and quite a few 75cl bottles of beer .... only the bit anoying thing is the price for some beers .. some beers are normal priced others are actually too expensive for what it’s worth ... but overall worth a view when in antwerp | 52 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 3/10 OVERALL 8/20 kraddel (25) deurne, Belgium | August 10, 2012| Updated April 20, 2013 nice place to go if you’re in the neighbourhood and need something common but dont wanna go to the store and have money you wanna get rid of ( how many times does that happen ha? ) they’re so much into numbers ( 280 , was it?? ) of beers they ’have’ truth is, they dont. and what they have is 98 % common, sometimes, you get very luckey and you can find a pannepot reserva. thats the maximum. now, on what they DO have. it realy sucks that they onley have like what, 3 bottles of each? exept maybe things like jupiler ( why the hell would you buy that there? ) the staff is rather friendley, but know nothing about beers, the dutch language, and prices ( com on, trying to tall me pannepot is nowhere available beneath 3 euro’s for them to buy? i pay 1,6 in the retailer ! ) they sell at prices you pay in a bar.... just very toeristick, tying to sell them so common beers as ’special’ and overprizing them... want a good beer ? keep walking 3 houses ( gollem) or go just around the corner ( antwerps bierhuyske ) to get more for yer money |
