A pub with 2 rooms and some standing room in the middle. Thank goodness for outdoor seating as I wouldnít have been able to sit down otherwise. Four handpumps plus a couple of interesting keg taps and bottles. The cask beers are mostly from the excellent Liverpool Organic Brewery, so I could spend all night here. However there are so many incredible pubs in the area that I must say that this isnít a destination pub. Even still, if you are in the area, I urge you to give it a go.

A true back-street boozer with a small range of classic session beers on cask, well kept. They also advertised some local beers in bottle but were sold out on my visit. The bar area is quite claustrophobic but there is also a seating room. Fairly ambivalent staff. Decent value. The clientele seems to be quite salt-of-the-earth, which I like. Worth a visit.

back street small two room pub, well kept beer, fairly busy, okay selection of mostly local cask, pork pies available but not sampled.

A well kept secret! except for those who pack it to the rafters on occasions. Itís a small cosy two bar pub with local craft ales and knowledgeable staff.

Visited in januar 2012 on our pre-winter-ale-pubcrawl.. Small city pub, quit narrow around the bar, but with a bit more space in the back, and with a fireplace :-). Think its more a pub for the locals, can be a bit tricky to find.. Had a few of the Liverpool beers on..

Lovely little place just outside the city centre. Nice friendly staff and allways some nice ale on tap. Lovely patio.

A small, tidy (recently refurbished apparently) Victorian boozer in the ďGeorgian QuarterĒ. Donít bother looking for Sugnall Street on a map Ė itís just a tiny stub off Falkner Street, between Catherine Street and Hope Street. Two small rooms inside. Some benches outside. A few interesting beers on handpump with Liverpool Organic (including the new Higsons) featuring prominently. Also some bottled foreign beers but I didnít note what they were. Only two other customers when we visited about 930pm on a Tuesday night.

The Belvedere is an old fashioned local tucked away in a side street in the elegant Georgian area of Liverpool. It feels like a throw back in time. The door opens on to a former off-sales area, thereís a snug to the left and the public bar is to the right behind an etched glass screen. Itís plainly decorated in a subdued green, thereís a lino floor and very little seating Ė just two high chairs at the bar and a solitary table in the corner with low stools and a wooden bench. Itís hard to go anywhere in Liverpool without being reminded of the cityís maritime connections and the Belvedere is no exception, with its panorama of New York over the bar. Outside there are three or four tables in a little oasis of potted bamboos and I can imagine that itís a popular spot on a sunny day. We visited on a Tuesday evening and it was pleasantly quiet, with friendly service. The pub must have been busier earlier in the day as the home made pork pies and pasties were sold out but snacks were available in the form of olives and Lakeland Cheddar with organic oatcakes. The beer on offer included Liverpool Organic Everymanís Ale, Portíer Liverpool and Higsons Best Bitter. There was also a nice collection of single malt whiskies, cider and a beer called Voluptuous Vera but, unfortunately, I didnít write down which brewery it was from and I canít now identify it. (Last visited 16 January 2012).
