76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 16/20 radagast83 (103) Fairfax, Virginia | August 12, 2012 Dropped on in here in the middle of the afternoon on a weekday, waiting for various relatives to get off work as I was in town visiting. Seated promptly, waitress was very friendly and helpful, talked about the beers and the brewpub. Place was nice looking - tanks behind bar and down to the back of the place. Looks like there might be a biergarden/patio in the back.
Beer pint prices were outrageously inexpensive, and the sampler was $5 for 4 4oz or so sized brews. | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 Rando7 (20) Iowa | May 28, 2012 Visit for lunch. Seated promptly. Decor mostly dark wood with high tin ceilings resulting in a fairly noisy atmosphere although we had no trouble carrying on a conversation. Seventies music, Several flat screens with sporting events. Bar along one side backed by large brewing equipment.
I had read horror stories of the service here but ours was great and the other servers seemed to be doing a good job as well. Menu mostly basic pub fare. My hamburger was very good, fries were good as well. Wife’s Cuban sandwich a bit on the dry side but good.
Good variety of their own beers with a few interesting guest taps. has beers that will appeal to experienced beer geeks as well as people wanting more traditional. Will bring a small sample if you are interested in trying something. All in all very enjoyable. | 84 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 16/20 KAF (100) Coralville, Iowa | February 8, 2012 This is a must stop if you’re in the area. They always have at least one good stout on and most of their regular line up is decent to good. Service has always been friendly. They have jalapeno poppers that are wrapped in bacon that are wonderful and go great with their Jalapeno Ale. They also generally have one or two decent guest taps on. | 66 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 BVery (323) Burnsville, Minnesota | November 26, 2011 Nice brewpub - visited here on Nov. 26, 2011. Had a flight of about 9 beers, 6 of which were quite good. Fun brewpub vibe. Free parking. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 18/20 GraniteSkunk (10) Moline/Quad Cities, Illinois | September 15, 2011 Bent River is within walking distance, for me, so I’m often found down there. They have their basic, brewed on premises, line up always on tap. Lately, they have been trying some new stuff, and it’s paying off(Their dry Irish stout aged on Jack Daniels staves, for instance). They always have 2 - 4 guest taps. Sometimes they’re basic, but a lot of the time there’s something really good. A lot of Founders stuff, Southern Tier, and Dark Horse guest taps. Occasionally, they get a special gem(Double Dry Hopped Sublimely Self Righteous anyone?) The food/menu had a remaking not too long ago, and it’s very good. Basic bar far, with a few extras thrown in. The meatloaf is great, as are the wings. Every day, for lunch, they have a $3 burger and fries basket as well. Servers are energetic and helpful, and the bartenders know their stuff. Often, you’ll be able to talk to the head brewer or owner, as well. Also, ask if they have anything special behind the bar, as evidenced by my Old Rasputin XII consumed there. | 74 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 14/20 LilBeerDoctor (208) Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | August 1, 2011 Came here on a Wednesday night and it was pretty crowded, but still managed to get seats at the bar. It’s a fairly small place with a number of tables and a long straight bar that faces some of the tanks. They have a pretty extensive tap list (10 total on my visit). The beers I tried varied from average to really really good (the Uncommon Stout, Jalapeno Pepper Ale, Dry Hopped IPA). So definitely worth it to come here for just the beers. They also had a few guest taps and some guest bottles, mostly midwest offerings (ie Founders, Bells, etc). The food menu is standard pub fare, pretty average. Up there with Great River Brewer’s Lounge for best brewery in the Quad cities (I’d stop by both if I had the time). | 68 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 15/20 ryanfolty (154) Minneapolis, Minnesota | July 27, 2011 Place was packed on a Tuesday night, guessing because it was $2.50 pint night. Great location and they had a sampler of 4 for $5. They brew a wide variety of beers, but most are fairly average. | 76 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 15/20 bpreo (33) Eugene, Oregon | July 5, 2011 Great deal if you try the sampler/taster. | 72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 NobleSquirrel (200) Chicago, Illinois | September 8, 2010 Stopped in when a buddy of mine was living in Davenport. Nice classic bar serving up decent house beers and a good selection of bottles from micros. Reasonable variety available. Not too shabby. | 72 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 Cavie (80) Fort Worth, Texas | June 8, 2010 Stopped in to meet my buddy drowland the night before his wedding. Nice wooden ambiance with lots of tanks lining the back of the bar area. I tried all of their offerings which the bartender was fairly knowledgeable about. I didn’t get a chance to try the food but I did get some of the free popcorn they offered! Pretty cool stop and the beer was above par. |
