82 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 blutt59 (133) Dallas, Texas | April 24, 2013 grocery that was pretty convenient to the airport. open coolers with big selection of local ,US and imports, growlers, etc. the only negative is lack of singles, definitely worth a stop | 94 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 HourGlass13 (11) North Carolina | March 29, 2013 This is the place to buy beer. They have a massive selection with local brews and every style within reason. There is also a clearance section where you can find some deals. They have other items as well. It might not be the beer capitol of NC but it sure is for the greater triad area. | 90 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 Travlr (999) Washington, Washington DC | December 30, 2012 OK, you know this is a special place when five different customers are taking pictures of the beers. The open supermarket-style beer cooler is about a city block long, running the whole length of the building. Local stuff is up front, much of it in growlers, mini-growlers and hand bottles. Very solid and well chosen European selection toward the end of the row. An amazing place. Oh, and on the way out I noticed that it’s also a grocery store! | 92 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 20/20 MlhopeTC (18) Orlando, Florida | October 24, 2012 Walked in to a grocery store thinking I had the wrong place. Then looked to the left and saw more beer bottles than I’ve seen in one place in awhile! An entire aisle of beer. Best part, almost all of the beer is in coolers, and the coolers keep the rest of the aisle cold so that even the bottles in the middle displays of the aisle are cold. Awesome way to keep beer! Huge selection. Lowest prices I saw in NC. | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 rumproasts (63) Grand Rapids, Michigan | October 6, 2012 very good selection, particularly of international beers. more mikkeller than i’ve seen anywhere else. however, no singles except for a few bottles in the close-out bin. | 90 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 19/20 DiarmaidBHK (548) Pennsylvania | September 11, 2012 It’s A 50’s era grocery store reimagined with a slight hipster quality. The left side of the 7th aisle is all beer. They have close outs on the back wall and BMC hidden away in the back corner. beer is organized by region and they have a very stood selection between all the Mikkellers, evil twins, 3 fontiein, and all that local, national, and European craft. I do wish they had a bathroom but it’s a minor quibble. Definitely a world class selection. | 80 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 17/20 PackPride (12) Raleigh, North Carolina | August 23, 2012 This place is ok, it’s not the greatest place I’ve been to, nor the Mecca of beer in NC like I was expecting. Don’t get me wrong, the selection is very good, but it’s nothing you can’t find at any craft beer shop. I know of two places in Raleigh that specialize in craft beer alone that have as good of a selection, and carry beers that are harder to find. Not to mention, the service was sub-par at best, it’s not the kind of personal 1 on 1 experience you’ll get at a craft beer store. All in all, it was a great selection for the common brewed beers, just not so great for the harder to find ones.
New update (8/23):
Received in an e-mail from an employee of Bestway asking questions about my experience there based off my last review, and were very friendly and helpful. I want to thank Bestway for taking their time to e-mail and ask questions about my experience. I will be returning there in the future when I come back up to Greensboro. | 88 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 doboy (22) Morehead City, North Carolina | June 23, 2012 I was IMPRESSED! Not wure what I would find. Found them on Facebook and was impressed with the beers they were getting in. SO on a trip (5 hours away) I stopped in. One cooler dedicated to NC Growlers. Then Coolers from the front to the back of the store, slam packed, and they were busy stocking more! Bombers are on the top shelf all the way down. Crafts, Imports, just NC beers, you name it! What a variety. And their prices were right where they needed to be!
This store rates up there with Bottle Revolution, Brusin’ Ales, Brawley’s and Sam’s!
I will be back! | 92 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 17/20 tkrjukoff (165) , Sweden | June 3, 2012 Glad I’m using a navigator, otherwise might have been hard to find. Small grocery store with a huge beer selection. They say they have 1000 beers geographically organized from West Coast Califonia Eastbound further to UK and rest of the Eurome and so on. Top beers well labeled with RateBeer shelf tags, what a service! Staff is very helpful and seem to know their beers. I recommend this place absolutely to anyone, great international selection as well, happy to see so many Scandinavian beers there, too. Just incredible. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 JCB (176) Durham, North Carolina | May 20, 2012 Stopped by a couple months ago while NCAA Tournament games were going on very nearby. Challenging navigation to this place, but it was very much worthwhile in terms of selection. Independent grocery store, fairly spacious and well stocked with basics and niche items. Off to the left hand side of the store is a very well-stocked liquor section with a terrific assortment of brews. Very well represented Belgians and Scandinavians alongside national and local craft. Some real treats in here along with a nice assortment of growlers. Very much worth a stop, just a few minutes off the highway. |
