Microbrewery operating since ’89. Nice small pub, with good atmosphere. They have 3 beers - dark, pale lagers and a Weissbier. All are absolutely ok. Very good food. We had meat balls with onion gravy, was delicious. Hessen does not have a lot of good beer places, this is one of the better ones.

A local place at the end of a long tram ride at an almost abandoned train station. Looks shabby, not much in the way of decor. Fairly nice service, patient with people who don’t know German though not much into explaining things and not much knowledge on beer. The food is regular affair for the region. Nothing special. The beers (three) range from average to good. Specials usually available though not this time of the year. Or maybe the waitress just didn’t understand me. Cheap though and well, worth a visit if you’re in Frankfurt since there’s not much there.

Charming local beer place in the outskirts of Frankfurt. Traditional decor from the 70s. They had 4 homemade brews on tap, and a couple of them available for taking away as well. Classic german meny, the Schweinaxe was great. Great service, but the staff does not speak much english. Well worth a visit for some beers in Frankfurt

Shabby brewpub in the eastern suburbs pf Franfurt, located on a very noisy and ugly street, very unfriendly service; but still woth a visit, because the beers are - in comparison to other hessian brews - very good!

Quaint small traditional German Brewpub on the outskirts of Frankfurt City. Easily reachable on Tram 11. Quiet mid afternoon therefore not a lot of atmosphere. Beer ok but not great. One of the very few decent beer places in Frankfurt so for that reason alone worth taking the long tram trip.

An old house with a wrought-iron sign out of central Frankfurt sounds quite appealing, and it is in this lackluster bankers’ city. The decent traditional food outshines the iffy brews offered here though. Make a stop at the Scheck-In Center on your way over here to stock up on fun bottles such Firestone Walker, Birrificio Italiano and the Braufactum lineup, for example.

This was once a way stop on a lonley road that the city has now caught up with. It never ceases to amaze me to see these litte pubs that have lasted centries. This is a simple family run place. Good food and they have a neat green sauce that must be tried. The beers are quite good as well.

Bier-Hannes is a nice and traditional brew-pub, on the eastern outskirts of Frankfurt. I just loved this place. Truly German beer stube atmosphere, locals having their afternoon/evening dinner and beers. Friendly staff (not speaking much of English, but I managed). Menu is traditional German home cooking with large portions. And 4 beers to select from. Small selection, but really great beers. Worth every penny to pay a visit. The interior consists of three interconnected rooms, all done out in a traditional style. It also has a large beer garden where they arrange events like seasonal beer openings. The best way to get there is by public transport on tram 11, getting off at Mainkur Bahnhof stop. The Bier-Hannes is in front of you on the right hand side.
