Other Hamburg shops (including big specialty shops like Graeff and Bierspezi) focus on cases of sometimes interesting German beers (but basically pils and weissbier). Bierland has a dedicatedly broad array of German beer styles (e.g., a range of kellerbiers, a collection of pils including one with 100 ibu) and the owner seeks out rare beers from small producers, along with trying to stock Belgians, U.S. beers, and others that are virtually impossible to find elsewhere in Northern Germany. She is very helpful with suggestions, and loves to discuss beer varieties and trends. When I commented that most Hamburg beer drinkers concentrate on just one or two styles, she added that customers from the former East Germany tend to be more open-minded and adventuresome in seeking out varieties of types and flavors!

Dropped in 11/2014. Nice overall DE selection (franconian, HH) on a few stocked shelves inside a tiny store that looks like (and partly serves as) a newsagent’s, charming. Immediate engaged & knowledgable service from the owners who in the 15mins I was there were asked to fill surprise cases for fathers-in-law and party gifts. Particularly steep prices for HH locals, close to bar prices for a few Buddelship and Kehrwieder, and higher than average for UK and BE imports. Glad to find Pyraser Hopfenpflücker here at a fair ransom, a long time want.

Probably the best place to buy beer in Hamburg, the beer selection is very good in particular the traditional German beers.
The lady who work there is helpful and kind.. A pleasure to visit.

Beershop abit from center of town. Beers nicely by style on the shelfs. Selection is a little limited as most of the beers is easily avaible elsewhere. Most interesting is the small seletion of Hamburg craft beers. Nice and informative service by the 2 owners. Picked up a few hamburg locals, but wasnt to impressed overall.

Excellent store, the owners are really enthusiastic about beer, you won’t find better service in Hamburg, especially Esther can tell you something about nearly every beer on the shelf, main focus is on German beers, but also several interesting Belgian, British and American beers are available. It’s worth visiting it on a regular basis because there are always some new beers I haven’t tried before. Prices might be a little bit higher than in some other German beer stores, but that’s something I don’t mind due to the great selection of beers and the outstanding service.

Not sure why this is the top-rated place in Hamburg. A small store with a few local German rarities and an otherwise uninspired selection of highly-priced international bottled beers. Rather surprising considering the enthusiasm of the proprietress ...

Great little bottle shop, very friendly staff, quite knowledgeable. They make the effort to give recommendations despite limited English skills. Wide selection of many local German craft beers including a few northern micro-breweries. They also do import a few popular Europeans and American crafts. OK prices considering the nice selection and the relative lack of interest for craft beers in Germany.

Located in a relatively quiiet lane in a residential area of the city, this rather small shop offers a decent selection of German, Belgian and American beers, though it is definitely not the biggest bottle store in Germany. The staff are very friendly, knowledgeable, and remarkably well-disposed towards serious Ratebeerians: on learning I was from Denmark, they immediately extended their kind greetings to yespr and Ungstrup :-) I bought a few botles of decent German beer, not cheap but much cheaper than they would be in Denmark, and left, straight into a very cold and windy street. thinking of when I would open the bottles. I will definitely come back again.

This is BY FAR the best beer shop in ALL of Germany (I was living in a beer desert for most of these past 9 years that I’ve been here, and have checked all 4 corners- Berlin, Hamburg, Freiburg & Munich- looking for good craft beer...)! In my opinion, it’s the ONLY place you can actually find an impressive offering (like one you would expect to find in any of the major cities in the US), and I believe it was probably the first international beer store as well...The owner Esther is an AWESOME lady and not only knows everything about beer, but truly LOVES BEER and connecting people with some of her rarities, too. Bierland is always the exclusive carrier of something or another, so I you love beer- make the trip to go and see Esther, I promise you’ll thank me for it! Here’s a link to their international beer offernings (which are still the RAREST beers to find in Germany!): http://bierland-hamburg.de/ausl_biere.html
