80 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 16/20 beerinmarch (118) Washington | November 25, 2007 Nice pub up on the hill with a view of the river. The food was very good, I had a small pizza that was excellent. They had 6 beers on tap or so, all good to very good quality, only one beer was a bit disapointing. Highly recommended place. | 66 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 13/20 batkins (78) Vancouver, Washington | March 3, 2007 Ok, first things first.....get ready for some stairs! Behind the street level windows you will find the brewery. Go up the first set of stairs to find a couple of nice pool tables and the bathrooms. Go up another, inside set of stairs to find the bar/restaurant. The bar is fairly small as is the dining area, both with views of the river. Several outside patios/decks for fair weather seating. Food is somewhat overpriced, but for the area, it’s probably no TOO bad. Service was good, as was the food. Beers were a bit above average, with the stout being particlularly good. | 74 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 14/20 jake65 (94) Williston, North Dakota | February 13, 2007 Quiet house turned brewpub is easy to find from the interstate. Parking is crowded, even during a slow part of the day. We did get a great table by the window with an amazing view of town. Food was good, but pricey. Service was better than average. Only had one beer, but it was quite good. They do offer a sampler at a reasonable price. | 66 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 14/20 Oakes (612) Savusavu, Fiji Islands | August 2, 2006 Big house overlooking Hood River with views of the Gorge on one side and a bit of a biergarten on the other. I arrived at a beer launch party so it was quite festive, despite a fairly cookie-cutter interior. Had a quesadilla, nothing special but that’s something I make really well myself so I wouldn’t expect more. The beer range wasn’t too bad for a brewery I’d never heard of and the new beer (Little Red Rooster) was really good. I know Full Sail is the big name brand, but I’d find time for both these places (and Elliot Glacier as well) if in Hood River. | 56 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 3/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 12/20 harlequinn (112) Tacoma, Washington | May 26, 2006 Great atmosphere overlooking the city of Hood River at night when it is all lit up. Nice sized sampler, did not try the food, but the menu was good looking and somewhat pricey with alot of steaks and seafood. Service however was horrible. My father and I sat there waiting to be served forever before someone payed attention to us, and even at that point they could not tell us about the beers without looking up at the board they were all posted on to tell us what styles they had on. | 44 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 3/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 8/20 Braudog (655) Hampton, Virginia | July 30, 2005 May 2004: This place has a lot of potential, but I was way underimpressed with their beers, and the restuarant itself was kinda underkempt and uncomfortable inside. Overpriced after the mountain climb up the steps, too. | 78 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 5/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 11026 (58) Alabama | July 24, 2005 Nice building with a fantastic view of the Columbia river. Watch the barges, windsurfers and kiters do their things. Beer is all theirs with a decent range of styles. Runs on the expensive side for food and drink. Service has always been fine, beers are passable. | 70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 15/20 Crit (134) New Westminster, British Columbia | March 29, 2005| Updated September 18, 2008 Nice building with a great view, good selection of decent beers. Food selection was good as was the quality. I was there in winter on a weekday afternoon. Lots of stairs, hard to climb, hard to get back down after several beers. The dark wheat was very good | 76 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 16/20 Sham (43) Seattle, Washington | October 27, 2004| Updated September 18, 2008 Had lunch here on the way to the RBSG04. Good food. I kept it simple with a salad with a vinaigrette for dressing. Beers were pretty good. The building is awesome though. We sat right next to a great big ass plate glass window and got to view the entirity of Hood River while eating/sampling. | 70 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 14/20 3fourths (1082) Vilnius, Lithuania | August 16, 2004| Updated January 21, 2013 Food was OK but far too pricey... tourist trap I guess. The building is a kick, lots of wood, lodge-style design with a couple of dark stairwells to climb before reaching the upstairs bar. You get a nice view of Hood River and the Columbia through a large window, up in a small room with a small bar. The imperial stout is arguably their best offering, and it’s decent enough. Worth a stop at least once, but eat elsewhere. |
