Big Rig needs to call for a wrecking ball...Well, maybe not a wrecking ball, but what do you call the tool you us to rid your establishment of lazy/poorly trained staff and start all over? oh! a wanted ad, that’s it.

Large space, newly finished and attractive. You would think it would be great to watch a hockey game but despite the number of TVs they were not that large and were placed up quite high. For a brewery, the staff (at least our server) was not terribly knowledgeable. Reasonable range of beers available but did not find either of the ones I tried to be stellar (IPA was decent). Food was OK but not great and was a little on the pricey side for what you got.

Visited Feb. 27, 2013 for lunch. One of those brewpub sport bar, very close to the freeway (417). Nice TV collection! The service was nice, not the most knowledgeable but friendly, the barmaid was nice enough to tell me that the IPA was bitter (if you call it bitter). I had a typical but tasty burger, ok price. I had two beer, the IPA and the stout, they were ok at best, I did not expect high quality, you would not get mind blowing stuff there. It’s a ok place, but I would not go all the way there for more beer.

I want to really like this place, but just can’t. Think Moxies in Red Deer. Music was killing me both time I’ve been. Beer is unremarkable, food was not good. Service was clueless.

Went there with a couple of friends yesterday. Big place, lots of TV’s, however the music was a little too loud and the place being so big, it felt like a hallway. Service was below average: pretty girls in short skirts with very poor knowledge of the menu and products (for example when asked for an herbal tea, she brought on Orange Pekoe, pretending it has no caffeine in it). Selection of beer is ok, 6 types of their own brews (I tried 4 of them) some other bottled and drafts. Food was awful. I got a burger that was made with grilled cheese between two slices of bread (which should be simple and tasty), in reality it was very oily and impossible to eat by hands, I had to use the fork and knife. The patty was unsalted, non-spiced and bland. The amount of fries that came with the burger was absurd, about a pound, and the ketchup was only in a 20ml container for 6 people. Oh, and to switch from fries to a garden salad, you have to pay extra (another moment the server was unaware of). My friend had a beef stroganoff, which she described as average. The only good food was the pulled pork sandwich. Prices are ok, somehow average for Ottawa. The beer was disappointing, maybe except for the raspberry ale, which had a nice refreshing taste of a hefe plus the berries. The stout was watery, the IPA unbalanced and the hefe plain boring. I really hope their chef and brewmaster improve their skills in the near future, cause if things don’t change, I’ll rather go to Brasseurs du Temps for much better food, beer and service.

Beautiful decor, and its huge! Upscale menu, nice, interesting choices and twists on pub favorites. The prices arn’t bad either. Now for the beer. It’s really pedestrian. And the 4 x6oz pours are a joke, they are 3oz at the most! Service was quite good, and friendly. A bonus you can bring some of the beer home in growlers, too bad the beer isn’t good enough to wanna being brought home.

Beautiful brewpub in the West End with plenty of parking, modern wood and slate decor, with a nice upscale pub menu, decent prices. Service is attentive and friendly. Six beers on tap ( 5 regulars and one seasonal), OK at best. 4 X 6 ounces (more like 3 ounces) for 7.50$. Overall, OK if you live here in Ottawa. Hopefully, this place will improve their beers and be a bit more adventurous.

Went for a visit before the long weekend during lunch to sample some beers and just relax. A very nice patio and setup inside, was amazed with the number of staff so service was quick, attentive and knowledgeable (not sure if when its packed its the same but I can only rate what I witness). I was silly and ordered a healthy salad which was not that good however some of the burgers and other things that were being served around (stick with more typical pub food). Beer was a little pricey and food was more so but was worth a visit.

Tried the seasonal Hefeweizen and stout. Both were above average! Large american style brewpub owned by hockey player Chris Phillips. Food was good. Food prices a little high. Beer prices reasonable for Ottawa ($6.50 for 20 oz.). Sample flights available. Very crowded - popular spot! Have a beer on the way to or from Ikea (or while your spouse shops).
