This is a large place with a chain feel to it., lots of TVs everywhere. I sat at the bar, struggling to avoid screaming two year olds (at 10 oíclock at night), pretty much unsuccessfully. The beers were for the most part watery and plain. No flaws, just watery. One of the special IPAs was fairly decent. Server was making up so much stuff about beer in general that I had to write down some of his comments. The only redeeming thing here was that a flight of eight beers was five bucks. But, you get what you pay for. I think Iíll give up on Gordon Biersch.

The Big River Grille is in an interesting old building which was originally a stables, then a tram shed and then about 20 years ago it became a bar. There are three distinct sections - a formal bar, a dining area and an informal bar with pool tables. They also have two other enterprises - round the back is Rhythm and Blues, a music venue, and their seafood restaurant, the Bluewater Grille, is next door. They had six regular beers and some specials on when we visited and the ones we tried were quite good. (Visited 4 February 2014).

Excellent wait staff on this busy Saturday! The food was good and our waitress was very knowledgeable about the brews. Located in a nice section of Downtown Chattanooga with a great pedestrian feel. Close to Taco Mac and Mellow Mushroom.

I stopped here for a little bit on the way to Atlanta. We were in early in the day and we were the only two people at the bar which would lead me to believe that weíd get adequate service, but we didnít.I did not get to try the food since I just finished off a large Cheeburger from across the street. The service couldíve been a fluke, Iím sure iíll stop in the next time Iím in Chattanooga. They had a decent enough selection of brews and the place was very clean and professional, but not really anything super interesting going on.

Visit to Chattanooga for HOG National Rally. Second time I have been to Big River. Good location in downtown with parking and other attractions. Large bar and restuarant and was clean and service was fast and responsive for a busy crowd due to rally. Beer selection is corporate with seasonal brews. Sampler of brews was good with a printed serving sheet. Food was good and was above average for pub food. Well worth a visit.

Great brewpub located downtown. Knowledgeable staff - able to point out medals that beers have won, characteristics of the beer etc. Have about 7 or 8 on tap at any one time - all above average for a brewpub. Food has been good all three times I have been there. Very crowded - which is a good thing for business - but bad if you want to eat in a hurry! Highly recommended.

I am basing this rating based on Noogfest 4.0, not a standard dining experience. This building is far nicer than the Nashville location. The modern dining ambiance also has the bar and pool table area separate, which is a nice touch. They also have streetside dining which is great for people watching. The food ranges from pub fare (pizzas, nachos, etc) to more pricey entrees like steak. I went with the pizza which was good. If you like a tame session beer that compliments your food, then I think their beers do a respectable job of that. The private back room for Noogfest was a nice touch and the server worked hard all night. The only thing he screwed up on was not getting names or credit cards for food orders, thus we had some people that forgot to pay the tab (and we all chipped in to cover it)

Stopped in here for Noogfest and also the next day for lunch. Service is ok, food is pubgrub, and ambiance is giant chain brewpub. Regualr beers are what youíd expect from a corporate chain, and nothing too special about their seasonals either.

Went here for the Noog fest. I actually only tried one beer, a cask conditioned IPA. The staff was nothing but friendly. Large with some nice outdoor seating. Nice location.

Noogfest 05 - The staff was mostly friendly and handled a large, occasionally rowdy crew really well - I thought it was kinda cool that by the end of the evening our waiter and waitress were sampling some of the beers with us. Food was a notch above standard pub food and the beer I had was well made, if not particularly adventurous.
