Nice little store a block from my house. It has an extensive bottle selection and is organized very well. All the beers are organized by country and/or state. The owner is a very nice and helpful guy. Whenever I go in, he always directs me to the newest items, which I like. There is a fairly good selection of mead as well. Some wine and some sake. The only thing I would say bad about the place is not all of the beer are available in singles. The newest beers and best sellers usually are though. I love the place.

Nice selection but very expensive. This could be a great beer store if it werenít for their prices.
With so many other top beer stores in the area to choose from, why bother going here?

Decent selection of german brews, decent turnover, reasonable staff. Barware sold as well. Not much on ambience, but beer works for me.

OMFG. Walk in and find beer heaven. And the staff wasnít intrusive. Just me, my eyeballs and my Droid ratebeer app. Found lots of good beers, and about 15 or so Iíd never rated, and some Iíd never heard of. Worth a stop. A bit out of the way, but the beer range is wide. New Japanese beers imported by a firm 20 miles from my house. Iíd never seen them. What a selection! Course there are hundreds of superb beers that werenít there, but maybe in the future?

This place has a sketchy convenience/liquor store ambiance. Fairly wide selection and fair prices but nothing rare. If youíre in the area and need to find some Stone, Victory, mediocre PNW beers this place is good. Large selection of Eastern European and German beers if youíre into that sort of thing.

Wouldnít say there are 700+ bottles here, but they have a damn good selection. The inside doesnít have much going for it, but this if off of Aurora. Nice selection of bottles. They donít have the best selection, but I didnít leave this place feeling as though I was having to worry about what to select. Asian lady was really nice. They have what they have. I donít expect to go in a beer store and have the clerk all over me.

An amazing selection in a questionable neighborhood. Beer is unfortunately stored at the improper temp. The chill the Old E but not the 20 dollar bottles of aged corked beer. Bizarre.

I used to frequent this place more when I was first getting into the craft beer scene. Located in what looks more like a C store, Big Star has quite the selection of beers from around the world. The problem is that the conditions (lighting) arenít very good and you wonít get much in the way of beer selection help if you need it, although they are friendly and I hear they will do case orders if you are looking for that. Pricing has creeped up a bit in the last couple of years that make them at the upper end as far as my regular stops go. Worth checking out and often a place to find a bottle of something that has been sold out at other places around town.

Ambiance and beer knowledge of the staff leave much to be desired, but this is definitely a go to beer store for the selection and generally steady of supply of some stuff that others like Bottleworks sell out of quickly (most notably HOTD and Scandinavian brands) take your time searching the shelves b/c you will find some surprises tucked away; doesnít seem to get as much limited releases, but does get some

Not as clean/organized as say Bottleworks, but it does beat the rest of the Seattle market on sheer volume. Lots and lots of beers, but not all are ones Iíd necessarily want. Iíd say Bottleworks is more curated, and anything íspecialí youíd find at Big Star youíd find at Bottleworks too. Exception is all of the European beers, particularly Eastern Europe, Russia, the Balkans. Tip of the hat to Big Star for these.
Service is pretty hands-off, but Iím often hunting on my own. Iím sure theyíd help where they could if I asked.
Prices are a touch more than others, perhaps, but canít really complain here.
Bonus is a great selection of glasses.

Big Star is one of thee competitors in the market here in Seattle. Basically, the main assortment of people that go here are Seattleites too lazy to drive to Bottleworks, or Seattleites that simply donít know about Bottleworks. Check out Big Star for your rarer odd imports from Eastern Europe and Russia. Lots of different cool sake to check into as well. About 50% of the brew is cold, and 50% is under horrid fluorescent lighting. Worth a stop, but most of you beer hunters will be good with a stop at Bottleworks.
