Very close to the university and totally packed with students during our visit and thatís probably typical. Still, no regrets at all we made a detour to hit Big Time. We did not eat, but the pizza counter was really looking at us by the time we left. Woodish interior with a loud crowd and plenty of good IPA being drank all around. Having Bhagwan and Scarlett Fire on tap at the same time was a definite highlight of our West Coast trip. Lovely old school IPAs which remain as good as their posterity. Beers were generally fresh and very satisfying. Thatís the point of a RB place, isnít it, the rest is all details.

I hiked across town from the Hard Liver fest to get here. Actually it was on the way to my friendís place, who was in school at the University of Washington, and we were trying to work off some of the barleywine. The people were very friendly and the brewer recognized me from the festival. I had talked with him a bit not knowing he was a brewer at all. We tried all 10 beers, of which most were pretty decent. They usually have some vintage bottles of their wheatwine sitting around. Theyíve been making this beer forever so if you find someone with a cellar you might be able to track one down from the early 2000ís. The sandwiches are pretty good as well. Cool place all around.

Definitely geared toward students. Standards here are pretty low. Parking is a bit challenging.

Nice presence on University ave. Great old building with plenty of antique charm and modern touches. Brewing area open to view from the restaurant seating which adds great ambiance. Nice selection of sandwiches and pizzas. They have their beer on tap, most of which is very good to excellent. The only real knock against them is that I never experience very friendly staff here.

Bar serves Bigtime brews exclusively (which is fine by me because theyíre tasty). Food is okay. Pretty low-key. I like it best during non-peak times. Great Sunday night special: buy a large pizza, get a pitcher for a buck. Good place to meet friends and play a few board games when it isnít too busy.

Rerate Revisited in Aug í12 for lunch after touring UDUB with my son. Fun brewpub with solid brews and great lunches. Original Visited here on a Friday night while on vacation in Seattle and the place was packed. It is located near the UDUB (University of Washington) campus - may actually be on campus. Sat at the bar and several students came in with collapsible growlers to fill with take home brew - most chose one of their IPAs which there were several. The service was very prompt and attentive and the beer was of the highest quality. Wish I would have had a place like this when I went to school.

(Visited 03/2012): Big Time is located north of Seattle in the University District on University Way, not far off I-5. Street parking is available, and there are a couple pay lots nearby.
The inside has a well-worn feel with wooden tables past the entrance, a bar on the left and a food window on the right. Brewing equipment is visible behind glass.
Big Timeís tap list numbers 10, and ranges from Wheat Ale, Amber, Blonde and the like to a couple IPAs as well as a Porter and Stout. Pretty standard brewpub styles, but pretty well executed all around. A sampler is available too.
Service both at the food counter and bar were good on our visit.
We ordered pizza on our visit and it was pretty good.
All in all Big Time is a pretty solid brewpub to visit a short drive from downtown.

A U-District classic and by far the best place to drink quality beer in the area. The IPAs and strong ales are especially tasty. Food is also really good.

For what it is, itís great. Brewpub on a College Ave, usually has a decent selection, some really good special beers too, great food. I really enjoy it. My personal favorite bar on the Ave, Iím always convincing my friends to go here instead of Finnís.
