One of the best selections of beer in the area, solid pricing, and with an on site tap room it is a must hit if your in the area.

DLD 09 ... WOW just WOW huge range. But boy was i pissed off. couldnt split 6 packs(seems to be all of Chicago), so it was Bomber or Six packs which was real annoying as i wanted to bring back as many beers as i could (all told i managed 29 btls home) Staff were not the friendliest though. But for a Local shop it would be GREAT

Huge Binnys with small bar that had several taps. Very nice selection but not the truly special selection I remember it once having. Still probably the best liquor store in the city when it comes to quanity and quality. Doesn’t have some of the rare gems you can find at wlv liquors from time to time, but who does. Tap room is nice but there plenty of other places in the area I would rather have a drink though.

What a cool experience the only bottle shop I have ever been to that has an escalator. Unbelievable selection some rare stuff including Brewdog Atlantic IPA. The shop and it’s employees were nice and helpful. Until I went to check out the female cashier was quite rude and impatient. One would think when a custmer spends $150 that the cashier would not mind someone paying with cash. She did not like me counting my cash before I handed it to her. Other than her this was good time and a excellent place to buy beer.

This place was out of the park. Absolutely huge. Biggest bottle shop I’ve ever seen. The beers were reasonably priced and their selection was fantastic! Really wanted to try the beers on tap and some cheese, but time wouldn’t allow for it. I would love to go back. Walk-in humidor had some nice sticks, excellent bourbon selection, and just an overall great place. Clean, roomy, nifty shopping cart escalator. Most of the staff was friendly and willing to help. One of the ladies at the register was a pain and really grated us the wrong way on the way out, but she’s an exception to the rest of the staff.

This Binnys is enormous. It’s probably the best Binnys in the city, yet one of the least attended. As such, it tends to get picked over a little less quickly than some of their other locations. Binnys prices pretty much set the average for the city. This particular location seems to be lacking in service. I don’t believe I’ve ever had anyone here offer to help, and the cashiers seem like they might be transplants from the Target a couple doors down. The real gem here is a small bar off to the side where they have tap craft beer, well-made/designed cocktails, and small plates of the artisan meats and cheeses sold on site.

Did my homework before i spent the weekend in Chicago.....what a huge place! like a big beer warehouse. Very knowlegable staff who are eager to talk beer and try to find what you are looking for if they dont have it. any of thier locations i would imagine would do the same

2011 revisit: Well, things have changed some at the South Loop, staff turnover, and the rotating beer selection has tapered off some. Not as exciting really as when they first opened, less gems to be found, selection was largely the same. Staff was still very helpful, more so in the liquor dept. and at the service desk though. Beer turnover doesnt seem to be as fast as the Lincoln Park store, and I noticed a few things LP had that SL didnt. Overall still a good store, but the bloom is off the rose. South Loop Tasting Room Bar mini review: 2011: Continually disenchanted with this place. Still feels a bit stuffy and sterile to me, that goes for the service too. They dont have a drink list anymore, so points off for that. Be sure to ask prices on the liquor, got charged $20 for a whisky that’s $9 elsewhere. Draft prices arent as crazy, but drinks sure ain’t cheap here. No outside food (from the deli) either, which I was chastised for. If this wasnt a regular spot for some friends of mine, I probably wouldnt make a point to return to the bar. Edit 2009: Dave is gone, and so has the extensive selection. Still some good taps, but not as exciting as before. Small plates from the deli are offered now, the cheese plate we had was exceptional. Edit 12/2008: Still a great tap selection, but inexplicably they got rid of their handpicked bottle list. There are literally hundreds of beers in the place, and they don’t serve them at the bar. Talk about wasting potential...
