Just beyond the sign that marks the end of Greater Manchester and the start of Lancashire on the main road between Rochdale and Bacup, this freehouse is has a very traditional and local feel to it, although unusually it has a mix of cushions available for its chairs and bench seats. The main room is around an L-shaped bar with a comfortable enough drinking section at the front and a more suitable dining area to the room. The other room has a darts board and pool table in it. Thereís several Sam Smiths ales available here but it is not a Sam Smiths pub, so you wonít find any of the swanky bottled stuff here such as their Chocolate Stout, just the session keg brews. They do rotate guest ales here too and the used pump clips are on the wall showing a wide mix of regional brewers including Beartown, Three Bís and Cross Bay. This includes seasonals.
