I think Ive found the best bar in the world. The service was perfect - the staff friendly, cooperative, generous, professional, very knowledgable about beer, and quite simply real gems. Even though this was massively crowded, even on a monday evening, Alejandro had time to talk about tastes, preferences, opinions, I sometimes felt I was hogging him. The selection is jaw-dropping. Its not just about the raw numbers, its about the fact that such care has been taken to ensure that all the Italian microbrewers are represented. I couldnt give a flying fudge about 3F or Mikkeller, or whatever - Im in Rome and I want Italian beer! Food - glorious, and I thought reasonably priced. The only place in Rome I went to twice, and I wish I could have got there a third time. The clear #1 venue for me, no-where else is even close.

this place is just fantastic!!!...wide selection of italian micros on tap and bottle ( foreign beers in bottle are available too including some vintage stuff ), nice food with very original research of prime materia, friendly and extremely well prepared staff ( english speaking ) but most of all, situated in a place ( via benedetta, trastevere ) that is a must for beer lovers from all over the world.

Not sure what to make of this place. Several of the tap beers were unavailable, service varied from mild disinterest to incompetent to absolutely fantastic depending on who came to the table. I reckon we saw at least six waiters. The guy who was running the place was fantastic - he took the time to run me through all the beers in the (sexy) wine cabinets and gave plenty of good recommendations. Once we got a few bottles things became a lot better. Food was very good, but we only ate at places out of the Slow Food book and this was no better (or worse) than any of those. All the beers were in perfect condition. Ambience only OK Id say, though not helped by an obnoxious fuckwit on the next table.

Great selection of Italian micros in both draught and bottle, with printed lists available. Food was good, and pizzas certainly the best weve had in Rome. Service was very friendly, very quick, and fluent in English. Even the prices were lower than I expected. It really started to get crowdy after about 9 pm, but still the service kept up to pace. Along with 4:20, this really was the highlight of our trip. I wish we had come here sooner, but then we would have thought its all this good in Rome... :P

I must echo all of the previous praises for this great establishment. We had pizzas and a couple of appetizers, and the food and service were both excellent. As for the beer, they do now have detailed menus-but I didnt need one as the owner (Manuele) set me up with a six beer sample as soon as I walked in and gave a description of each. They serve a hand picked selection of only the best Italian beers, all were excellent. We had talked only very briefly at the Football Pub (his sister venture across the street) about the virtues of the 2006 Lou Pepe Cantillon draft I was enjoying, but our reception at Bir and Fud was as if wed been long time friends. This was certainly a great beginning to our week in Rome. The Football Pub opens at 5:30 or so. Go there and then get to Bir and Fud for dinner at 7:30, youll love it.

A perfect match with "Ma che siete venuti a f" across the street. A very competent and always updated selection of th best Italian beers at draught: Baladin. Troll, Del Borgo, Birrificio Italiano, Ducato, Birrificio di Lambrate etc. etc. and many Italian and Belgian bottles in the cellar. Staff is competent and available to give you info on beers and food. A special mention for Aleandro, who exploits his multiyear US experience.
