Visited the 1st May 2016 with friends - Good bar on a festive street. Decent beer selection for a good value. Very friendly staff happy to share beer knowledge :). I really enjoy this night there. Good bottle selection with some treasure, I was happy to find Brewfist/Praires - Spaghetti Western Grappa BA ! Very various selection not so focused on the Italian scenic beer. Highly recommended.
I got to know this place as a Belgian working in Rome for a couple of months.
Allow me to be be blunt: this place has become my home away from home and if it was located in my hometown of Antwerpen I would drink my daily draught here. Period.
The prices are more than fair, the staff knows their stuff and speaks decent English (especially Massi!) and I love the selection. the 8 (9 if you count the hand pump) beers on draft vary - literally - all the time and keep a good balance between English, American, German and Belgian styles, often coming from young and very promising Italian brewers. In the fridges the same theme applies: around 50-100 different brews are stocked. You can find stuff from a variety of producers including young locals but also classic Belgian institutions like De La Senne, Kerkom, Orval, Boon,... or the better international rising stars like abbaye de saint bon chien, Mikkeller, brewdog,...
Perhaps the most important reason why I prefer this place over anything else in Rome: it feels very írealí. The people here actually love and know beer beyond the current hypes and they support their local scene.
If you have the chance; get to Pigneto, grab a bite in one of the nice restaurants and visit Birra+. Iíve been to beer bars all over Europe, but this is honestly one of my favourites.
Really enjoyed this place .. Itís not a fashion beer bar or a cool place with nice interiors but it has a good feeling and you can notice in fews seconds after you get in that the place is rooted in this area of Rome .. The selection of 8 taps is always changing and well done .. Donít know if they serve food .. The girl behind the bar was kind and she knew her job .. There are some fridges with a lot of bottles without real rarities but good enough anyway ..
A fairly small place with high interior, a few tables, more of a standing bar really. A decent tap selection of local brews with a decent bottle selection, nothing special available at the time of visit. Points go to the very helpful and cheerful personnel, not sure about their conduct on more crowded times though.
Down in Pigneto across the street from Il Porchettoniís famous Porchetta(get a sandwhich!). A very nice looking new bar with a ton of bottles to go. The fridge by the door is the rare/pricey stuff while the other fridges and boxes along the high ceilinged walls hold the more regular stuff. Lots of imported bottles and Italian stuff, 9 taps plus a handpump and a good selection went I went including berliner weisse, kolsch, dunkel, IPA, saison, etc. Thereís something to suit every taste. Not a must stop as it is a bit out of the way but easy to combine with Romeís only brewpub Birstro. The vibe is as nice as Luppolo 12 but you have way more take out bottles available. Not a must visit but you wonít be disappointed you made the effort. Solid.
Itís very hard to find negative aspects about Birra +. In fact, the positive ones are so many, that you can forget about everything else.
8 taps rotating so quick, always with interesting Italian or foreign beers. Limited beers or one-off as well.
Perfect and friendly service, you wonít get a pint if itís not ready to be served. 0.33 - 0.5 and 1.5 servings, usually for almost all beers.
On top of that, 3 big fridges with lots of interesting bottles, always fresh and more than fair priced, some rare and vintage as well. Being also a beer-shop, you can buy them and take them home.
The place could be bigger with more seating, yes, the 0.33 glass could be cheaper, yes, but as soon as I enter this place, I couldnít care less about those small details.
