70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 13/20 Scopey (271) Croydon, England | July 29, 2012 I stopped past here as I happened to be driving past. Bitter-end is a solid little shop with a focus on Real Ale. They have a good number of cask ale where you can take home beer in 4.5 or 9pint containers. They can also sort you out with a firkin or polypin if you speak to them in advance. They have a decent bottle selection of UK and Belgian bottles. Prices seem pretty damn good all-round. Beer selection may not excite the power-ticker, but I still found some decent stuff here. Owner is knowledgeable and friendly. Well worth a stop if you are nearby. | 74 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 13/20 SilkTork (72) Rochester, Kent, United Kingdom, Wales | January 17, 2011 I like the Bitter End. I used it a lot when I was a kitchen designer and was often in the Bromley area. It has a good selection of beers - very handy for any scooper starting up. More experienced scoopers will not find it worth journeying to; but is certainly worth popping in if you happen to be in the Bromley area, as there will generally be something new. They also serve cask ale to take away. There’s an OK Shepherd Neame pub next door. Nothing exciting, but serves three Sheps casks in good condition. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 17/20 planky84 (18) , England | November 23, 2009 Long established beer store just outside Bromley town centre. Has a constantly changing list of real ales at very reasonable prices which includes a little extra charge for the beer container which you can keep and use again at no extra cost. Excellent selection of British and Foreign bottled beers. Good, friendly and very knowledgeable proprietor. Recommended. |
