Stopped in on a Wednesday night. Completely dead. Not in an "oh, thereís not that many people here" sort of way...as in there was literally no one here except for one employee who was sitting at the bar reading a newspaper.
Cool, modern vibe to the place. Very, very dark though. Sort of a small horseshoe shaped bar and a number of tables around the perimeter of the space. Kind of a cool illuminated glass backing to the bar where you can see the bottles and kegs.
Selection is certainly dominated by local beers, but they have a decent enough variety. They also do flights here, but I just opted for the Four Winds IPA (a bit of a mistake in retrospect). They also serve food, but itís more of snack sort of stuff, which wasnít what we wanted.
Iíd like to give this place a higher rating, but the experience was a bit depressing.

Bitter claims to have "scoured the province & the globe for interesting, unique and favourite beers". Despite this claim the beer selection was fairly lacklustre, more along the lines of "the usual fare". The draught beers were served in shaker glasses despite their claim of "proper glassware". The food was alright - typical pub fare, mostly pre-made and assembled to order rather than being cooked on demand.
On the positive side, the service was excellent and the staff were pretty knowledgable about their beers. The ambience is decent, with the beers on display in glass fridges behind the bar.
Their beer list and menu in the room bore very little resemblance to the one they post online.

Stayed not far away so made a couple of visits. A nicely layed out bar with large fridges lining the side wall full of bottles. The bartender was great, chatty and recommended beery stuff to do around town. Not sure how often the taps change but was hoping to see some new stuff a few days later but not to be. Minor quibble though, worth a look in for sure.

Wow - a damn cool space in the middle of a not so cool stretch of Hastings. Flights appear to be well-constructed, the bottles are all in coolers and the servers are quite knowledgeable. Food is simple but designed to pair well with beer. Excellent and attentive service as well - which is always a pleasant surprise. I like that itís short - theyíre not trying to do too much. A few classics and a few interesting taps as well. Yup - not a whole lot to complain about.

Just opened a week ago. A bit early to rate meaningfully, but initial indications are very positive. Not open for lunch. Opens at 5. Decent selection of bottled craft beers and 8 taps. Upscale pub food. Open kitchen. Very busy!

Good service and nice ambience. But the beer is a pretty standard affair - only 8 taps. They admittedly specialize in their bottle selection, all of which are available for 1/3 to 1/2 the price at any off-license liquor store in town. So whatís the point in coming here? So you can gain expert beer knowledge on all the beers they have, they say. Pass - Iím not buying the sales pitch. No reason to come here.

New place, had dinner here. The food was okay, and some things were reasonably priced. The beer list is good, the main drawback being that only 8 taps. The bottle list is large but as a beer geek Iím not so interested in paying restaurant markups for the same bottles that are already expensive at the store. But otherwise, another solid addition to the Gastown crawl. The service on our visit was excellent.
