Excellent beer shop tucked away in a residential area. If youíre not looking for it youíre not going to find it! Brilliant selection, and you cannot fault the service or the value. No trip to the South Coast is complete without it. Treat yourself!

Great place to shop for beer.
Good selection of UK microís, Belgian, German, Scandoís and some US stuff that you donít see in too many places.
Dark Star Kiwi was available for take out from the barrel on our visit.
The owners were brilliant and we chatted with them for the whole half hour we were there. Regulars popped in and had a chat with us as well.
We spent quite a bit of £££ between us and we were both given a nice extra for our custom - great touch! And to top it off the lady owner then gave us a lift to the Guide Dog pub, not far away but our bags were pretty damn heavy.
Brilliant place - will be back !!!
Visited on Friday afternoon on the way to Eden Project with my family. Quite small shop with great selection of beers from mostly Europe, USA and some others including Japan exclusive mass products and of course great UK selection including limited ones. Also two local casks on tap for take away. Prices are quite affortable. Nice couple (probably) runs the business, know what they are selling, very helpful and proud of the local breweries. Iíve found lots of new beers from my favorite breweries and some long time not seen ones which Iíve missed and gave it up to find them. For example Brewdog Abstrakt 8, which was a bit expensive and as I was a bit short of money I wanted to leave it there but at the end Iíve got it as a gift. Very nice gesture, many thanks!
Amazing shop which i never would have found but thanks to Ratebeer i did! The owners are very friendly, advised me on several beers. I was mainly interested in beers from the UK. Amazing selection. However the place was filled with beers from all over. Even some nice whales. Now i have to ísurpriseí my wife again when i make a detour and park my car in front of the door for a second beer run.
a very interesting shop, with a nice selection of glassware, and beers/ciders from around the globe. many more beers than on their website, particularly belgian/lambic etc. also quite a few brewdog, goose island, chimay, rochefort and st. bernardus. owner was extremely helpful, overall excellent.

Great bottle shop that NO WHERE near my house ... but luckily near my sister. They are very friendly and helpfull... Good selection ... even picked up Duvel Triple hop and 3F Hommage here .
A great little beer shop this one with a selection of ales from all over the UK. Specialises in Belgian Ales with new beers regularly available. Also stocks German and other European beers and a small selection of ciders and american craft beers. In addition it has 1-2 beers available on tap for very reasonable prices, available for takeaway in plastic bottles. Ann and Chris are very helpful in recommending beers to your favourite styles or similar to others you have tried. A selection of glassware and giftpacks are also available.
An excellent shop with a good selection of beers from around the world with Belgium and the UK being particularly well represented. They also sell beer glasses and some beer books.
The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and always willing to give advice when necessary.
They have up to two British cask beers on stillage available to take away.
An excellent shop.
My first visit to Bitter Virtue was long overdue. We stopped past the shop on drive from London to Dorset. It is located on an unassuming residential street with plenty of parking around. They open at 10:30am on a Sunday which suited us perfectly. Inside is stuffed full of a wide array of beers ranging from local to international. For a relatively compact shop it packs a punch. Loads of stuff that we either donít see in London or beers that donít hang around on the shelf for long. Staff/owners were very friendly and pretty knowledgeable. Hard to go wrong with this place. Deserves its space on the top echelon of beer shops in the UK.
