A bunch of beers on tap and a decent bottle selection, but we visited on a day when renovations were being done so the selection wasn’t as good. Nothing overly special in the way of bottles, so I wasn’t excited over anything. Prices are exorbitant as usual for Norway and Tromsø even more so. Friendly service. Didn’t try the burgers since we are vegan. Seems quite overrated a place. Ølhallen a few minutes away is way better than this.

When you enter the cafë you’ll find a small room with dark wooden furniture and rock posters on the walls as well as the ever present TV. Small bar with 8 taps. 5 of them from Mack, 1 Kona, 1 Erdinger, 1 cider. 47 bottlles the majority international majors but luckily also some good Norwegian micros. 1st and 2nd floor dominated by small round tables and another bar at 1st level. Nice soft rock played at a pleasan - low - level. Staff friendly, knowing and humorous.Had a burger. More spicy and better than expected. Only disadvantage: The price level, but I guess this is just because I am in Norway.

Rated as number one pub in Tromsø, but that was before Ølhallen made their massive upgrade. A cool rock pub but not an impressing beer selection. Some interesting bottles though and a guest tap.(Visited July 10th 2014)

Nice place, with decent selection both on tap and bottles. Rock music, but not too loud. Tasted their burger, were pretty good. Correct service, worth a visit.

Appropriately named Blå Rock Café, from its location in a pale blue, wooden building in the heart of Tromsø, Blå Rock Café may not strike you as the ultimate pub - with its rather rough rock image. But it has the best draft beer selection in Tromsø (though not very impressive by Oslo standards), sporting Sam Adams Boston Lager, Marston’s Oyster Stout, Erdinger Hefeweizen and a very good Mack micro brew: Vinterland IPA. Oh, and some Mack lagers of course. The bartender seemed reasonably up to date on their beers and could even suggest other good beer places in Tromsø. Yes, they did play a lot of classic rock, but the sound level wasn’t too high, so I found myself tapping the rhythm to Iggy Pop and Velvet Underground while enjoying some decent draft beers. They also serve hot food, but I never got around to try it - but it smelled good :) When I return to Tromsø, I’ll start at Blå Rock Café - this is my kind of place. Visited: February 28, 2013

Nice rock feeling to it. Lots of nice posters (some signed) on the wall. Mostly British beers in the selection. they don’t only have lagers on tap. Actually a few different beer styles on tap such as weiss, stout. Busy at weekends and at the happy hour on Mondays when tap lager beer is 49 NOK.

We visited here on Saturday 19th January 2013 (me, Loz & Isobel) in the company of Rune & Finn. This place much like O’Hallen was very busy, however it was football and in particular Liverpool v Norwich that had brought a lot of locals out to the pub. Rune said that this was a Liverpool supporters pub so a comprehensive 5-0 win should have seen them very happy. I had a tasty IPA on tap I didn’t rate it so cannot recall any details. We also had a burger and chips, all of the burgers are musically themed i.e named after bands Loz had one named after the Pixies (she likes the Pixies a lot) I had a Red Hot Chilli Pepper inspired burger a band who I am not fussed on, though I like chillies so this one worked well for me. We had to sit right at the top owing to the football crowd having much of the bottom of the pub. For those who like their music check out the band posters there are some great ones on display from well known and also lesser lights of the mudic scene. Because it was so busy and difficult to see the beer selection I was unable to check out this place fully, but I liked it, the food was good and atmosphere noisy but friendly. However I preferred Cafe Sann and Skarven in town and visited them a few times.

A characterful pub - definitely has a rock venue vibe and the music was played at a good volume - ie clear and audible but not enough to destroy any conversation.
Selection was something of a dissapointment - was hoping for more interest on tap rather than more Mack beers which I could purchase for a fraction of the price in the Spar round the corner.
Ended up with a Scottish bottle which cost me over £10 - and thus my first intro to the nightmare that is Norwegian drink prices. Everything is expensive is this country but beer is stupidly expensive.
With nothing else to tick we left after the one drink and me feeling poorer and let down.
