70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 13/20
Old rating:One of the places to get real ale. Usually they have also at least one Stadin Panimo brew on tap. This is one of the "fish restaurants" (Kalaravintolat) chain bar.
Re-rate: Nowadays quite nice tap selection with some Finnish micros - also rare ones. Usually few new ones on bottles too. Staff knows about beer and real ale is always in good condition. They also expanded the place and it is now more airy than before. Points up as this is certainly Top5 place in Helsinki.

A darkish English-style pub on a popular walking street in Helsinki. This used to be quite small and cramped, but they expanded it some time ago, and now there’s usually plenty of room to sit. A couple of real-ales, a set of standard taps, which feature not that uncommon brands. A selection of bottles too, from where you can find, at times, interesting brews. Usually quite quiet, but they do arrange events at times, which can fill up the place.

80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20
A medium sized place located near the central Helsinki. Tap selection has some Finnish microbreweries and changes pretty often. They serve real ale (and cider) as well. Bottle selection is quite similar to other places, and isn’t very large. Be sure to try out their massively hoppy house beer (Huvila/Malmgård H.O.D.A.) when you are visiting.
UPDATE: As of 2013 and 2014, they have improved their selection by quite a bit, and the service is a bit better nowadays.

Cozy place (at least on the afternoon), good service and real ale and real cider are served. Bottle selection is not that great. Friendly staff.

I would give it a higher rating were it not for the incessant loud music that drowned out converasation. Mainly lower strengthbeers (to 5.5%) and very central but with a little more effort could become special.

Small, and has a "local" feel to it. OK, yes, that means it’s not at all pretensious and even a little scruffy. Very friendly and helpful staff. Always an interesting selection, occasional festival, and almost always a real ale. Occasional entz too, but I’ve not been to one since seeing Bryn Jones play there years ago.
