Definitly will be back. | 94 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 20/20 Advocate_Ames (27) Pennsylvania | December 9, 2012 A great stop while in NYC. One of best bars that I have checked in to. This place has a great selection on tap. If I lived in the area I would frequent this place often. A must stop if you’re in the area and want a pint. | 88 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 mansquito (56) Nueva York, New York | December 6, 2012 There is good beer here that is for sure. The place is olde timey with worn ceiling boards visible. The staff was attentive and nice. I didn’t have to wait very long even on the packed Tuesday. The beer selection was tilted heavily toward American micros. There were only a few foreign beers, but some obscure ones like the Dieu du Ciel Sieben Hugel. The selection of American micros was quite good as well. Whenever I haven’t had a third of the beers available, I am generally pretty happy. My only complaint is that it was crowded and absurdly loud. For some reason they were playing heavy rock that made me have to yell quite a bit. I don’t mind loud music and crowded places, but I do like to keep my vocal chords. | 88 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 18/20 msante79 (335) Mount Prospect, Illinois | December 3, 2012 Classic beer bar in cool area of NYC. Slam packed on a Saturday night, but was still able to get a beer pretty easily. Nice mixed crowd. Small place that has decent sized bar and some tables and bench seating. They do sell food but no one was really eating when I was there. Would love to go back when they aren’t as packed. Beer selection was pretty diverse. Definitely a must stop. | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 troubles (122) Tel Aviv, Israel | November 6, 2012 Visited on Sat. afternoon. Nice selection on draft, nice atmosphere. There was no service while we visited, and we found that very annoying leaving our table and order at the bar which was very crowded. Overall worth the visit, though I didn’t felt the magic of this place. | 90 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 17/20 bmerz (118) Brooklyn, New York | October 9, 2012 Blind Tiger, as you probably already know is the grand daddy of beer bars in NYC. They get the best kegs most consistently of almost any and the tap take overs and events are really special. It’s got a patina and aroma that only time in the business and being washed with beer from lots and lots of pints can bring. The staff is fast and super nice if you happen to get them outside of a busy time...but good luck with that unless it is a weekday early. The prices aren’t the least but they’re fair and a good deal for the neighborhood. I wish I lived nearer to that neighborhood so it would be easier just to pop in. | 88 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 18/20 rosenbergh (334) Helsinki, Finland | September 8, 2012 Absolutely great place. 28 taps. Nice atmosphere. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Liked it so much I had to visit three times during my one week vacation in NYC even there’s couple of others bars/pubs around in Manhattan/Brooklyn area. Absolutely worth visiting. And there’s Joe’s Pizza almost around the corner. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 Theydon_Bois (372) The ’Sham, England | September 1, 2012 A must stop on a pub crawl of Manhattan’s best beer joints, my most recent visit 30/05/12.
Solid and interesting tap list from aroud the US - 30ish with cask lines available. Never looked beyond the tap list to the bottle menu tbh. Quite a small venue and if you are heading here on a weekday evening you normally need to get in before 4.30ish to bag a table. The day I last visited was a Wednesday and at around 4.30/5pm they put out 4 different cheeses, biscuits and bread for drinkers to help themselves too.
ID check on the door from around 5pm and everyone was getting checked, even 50 year old office workers! Service is bar only and usually fine - if you can get it! My only gripe is that locals and post office drinkers take up every inch of the bar on stools so it’s sometimes difficult to get through to get service. I’ve even seen some cretins form a second rown of bar stools, grrr!
That aside a great bar with a great selection. Happy hour something like 4 till 6? | 94 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 19/20 chicob (13) Tel Aviv, Israel | August 25, 2012 A great place to get swollen into the world of craft beer. Simply designed, yet gives the beer drinker exactly what he needs. | 90 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 BartC (28) Lichtaart, Belgium | August 24, 2012 Nice place in the center of New York. Interesting beer list on tap and cask ales. Very good service by people clearly dedicated in offering quality beers! |
