Here for many Friday happy hours. Tap selection is constantly rotating, so you know the beer is fresh. Until recently, had a majority of selection leaning toward Belgian styles, but have now balanced it out with more domestic ales. Top notch gastropub food as well. Definitely worth a stop if your in Buffalo, in itself a very good beer town.

After a lovely Senators win yesterday against the Sabres, we went to The Blue Monk for dinner. The Duck Frites were great, my fish and chips were excellent, and Lisa had an ultimate grilled cheese which was real good. Selection was very good with about 30 taps, all of which were US micros and Belgians. Nice to see some stuff I had never heard of including Community Beer Works. It was really busy but the wait staff kept their cool and did a great job. We will be back!

Blue Monk is in a hip part of the city - the food is normally wonderful (try the braised short rib sandwich - amazing), and the beer selection is always great. Lots of imports and rarities. The bartenders are knowledgable, and are there to help. Prices are a little high for bottles, but sometimes it’s worth it for the things you can only find there. I definitely frequent it, and am a huge fan.

Really nice place, full of Belgians, beers that is. A little short on stouts but good food and good times.

This place is the real deal. Bar atmosphere, with two levels, tables and standard bar seating. Pretty good food. Pretty helpful and friendly staff. And then the taplist. Beers from all over NY, the USA and the world, including a ton I had not tried before. Prices are reasonable, and they do four-beer flights, but they choose the beers, not you, which is a bit of a bummer. Didnt even get a chance to look at the bottle list, but I spied some interesting selections in the coolers. All in all a great place that is worth the hype.

Wow! Great place in a desolate city. Went here for my birthday and was amazed at the tap list of 32 - nearly half Belgian - that apparently rotates all the time. Good bottle list with a couple of cheap finds even. The ambiance was super busy - this after the cab driver tried to tell me not to go there because it was small. Big props for the Fela Kuti music. Food was also amazing. Had some pork to die for, and a great burger between me and the lady. Top notch place that makes it worth going to Buffalo for.

I can see why this rates so high. Cool space with padio seating and small bar. I bet it fills up at peak times. Beer selection was excellent and trended toward belgian styles but you could find most beer cultures represented. I enjoyed some lovely beer from stillwater. Food was excellent. My wife got a mussel bowl, i got the ultimate grilled cheese. Both were excellent. Marinated olives too. Excellent. Service was attentive except for the 10 minutes waiting for the hostess to seat us in a virtually empty resturant. Overall enjoyable and certainly seems like the best thing in town.

Great place in the heart of the Elmwood Village. Selection is hands down the best in the area the focus being mainly on European beers, but plenty of Americans are represented as well. There will be beers here that you will find no where else in Western NY. The place is a little small and can get overly crowded, which is the only bad thing I can really say about it. Good mussels and frites too.
