Food is above average for a brewpub. Beer range is pretty tasty, with occasional seasonal or special stuff. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Good addition to the area.
Re-rate after a long time away. Warning, the bridge over the river was closed, so I parked in a residential area a couple of blocks away. Still noce to come here and see the river turn back into a river, its job entertaining tourists done. They are now doing sour beers, very tasty ones at that. Service was exceptional on this visit - table staff knew the beers backwards and forwards, were generous with free samples, and had good recommendations. Well worth a visit.

I found this brewpub to be only decent. The prices were pretty solid, and the beers werenít bad, but they just all felt a little lacking. Overall, I still enjoyed the visit.

This is a nice gem in downtown, mostly constructed of recycled industrial building materials. The house beers are good and there were some one-offs. Our service was spot on, and the food is very good. This is a must stop in San Antonio.

Visited October 2011.
Walked along the river to get here on a muggy Texas night. Very scenic walk along the water though, even if the weather was miserable. Blue Star was pretty close and I had heard good things about the food so beer and dinner seemed like a good idea. The food was pretty good and the beer was alright. My favorite of the bunch was the pils with my least favorite being the wheat. I really wish people would stop making garbage-style hefes. Just stop it. There was some loud music playing which could make it difficult to have a conversation but outside on the deck was nice enough, despite the 150% humidity and 90 degrees. Itís been a while since Iíve been here but I could see coming back after a walking tour of the scenic part of town for some food. Otherwise, Iíll stop somewhere else for a better beer. Oh, and the service was a bit slow.

Nice seating both inside and out. Food and service were outstanding. The beer was much better than I remember it. Being near the Blue Star Art Mueseum is also a plus.

Small bar in Southtown. Great place to gra a burger and a beer, especially after a long bike ride. Service can be iffy.

Not a bad place to grab a pint and some food if you are near downtown San Antonio. Located on the Riverwalk, about a mile and half from the Alamo.
The food is standard pub fare, with the burgers being pretty good. The beer ranges from not very good to slightly above average. During a recent trip they had a sour on tap that was pretty good, and they also have a nice stout. Not as good as the beers at Freetail, but there will likely be something on tap worth drinking.

Located along the Riverwalk (but a pretty far stroll from the Alamo and downtown), this was a nice find. Family atmosphere, decent food in a restaurant that also happens to serve beer brewed on-site. Didnít have my first choice available on the day I sent, but the second choice was fine.

Decent spot in Southtown to grab a brew. The beer is average and the food about the same. Two nice "surprises" the night we stopped in: Golden Sour and Black IPA. I recommend showing up for happy hour, knocking a few back and then moving on to get some great Tex-Mex and checking out the tremendous variety of local art in the area.

Took the trolley (Blue Line) from the Alamo to the Blue Star stop -$1.25 each way but it is a walkable distance (about a mile or so). The Blue Star is tucked behind another large building so it is not easy to see off the street. There is a comfortable, inviting feel to the place and service was good (Thursday night, not busy). There were about 5-6 beers on draft - not a great selection. The food was decent and was reasonably priced. Overall, a solid place with decent beer, good food.
