been awhile since i have been in this location. noticed immediately they have redone the bar area and moved all the "worthog" glasses off the bar area and put them on the walls. so the area is open and more friendly. only had a couple of beers and some pretzel sticks and cheese...served their beers in imperial pints. high gravity (over 8%) are 10oz pours. decent enough. the beers i had were so so. but i did enjoy the evening..think they might have had 10 or so taps and you can get a sample tray of i think 5 at a time.

I’m a long time fan of BBC but this location in particular has gone down hill of late. All of the beers are flat except the occasional beer that is over-carbonated and the bartender has to pull three pints to get you one proper beer. Specialty beers have been unimaginative. There used to always be a bourbon barrel aged beer on as well as a cask on Thursday, not anymore. With craft brew and microbrew on the rise in Louisville and all around the country, BBC can’t keep calling it in.

A-- Went to the tap room first and then to the other location on Main, as the other had food. Mostly brick and wood. Big bar, lots of seating and very trending looking. Very casual but hip feel. Lots of parking in the area, on and off street. Q-- quality wise was not over impressed really. Have had the bourbon barrel stout and it was average. Had their Black IPA on tap and could only drink half the glass. No hops and very alcoholic. Was warned by others their beer is average. S-- All bluegrass beers. 9 total taps with 2 seasonals. Had a few of their 750 ML bottles. Not too shabby. S- Decent service. Never asked for a second beer but water and soda’s were refilled well. Nothing outstanding and had better service elsewhere. F-- Average. Cuban sandwich was cold, salads were good and the mashed potatoes were good. Garlic fries were decent. V-- On this trip Bluegrass has been the most disappointing so far. Good prices but average beer and average service. Venue is very nice though.

$3 dollar drafts were a great deal. However, only 6 beers on draft - would like to see more. However, the choices I had were all very good. Service was good, bartenders very pleasant and knowledgeable.

I have been a fan of BBC since it opened in the early 90s. However, the quality of the beer has decreased at tap in St. Matthews. Over the past few months, words like "tinny," "flat" and "weak" are good descriptors for the variety of beers I have had there. Last night, when I order a pizza that features roasted garlic, and always in the past contained roasted garlic from a clove, I got what the waitress called "roasted garlic sauce" sans actual garlic. Her response to my comment about the poor quality of the cooking was "the chef on this night, no doubt!" Just a sad state of affairs to a once great establishment.

Had dinner with the wife and kid on a Wednesday night. Although the parking lot was full, we were seated immediately. Food is reasonably priced and delicious (burger for me, hot brown for the wife) and the beer, obviously, is the main selling point. Appreciate that they serve full and half pints, unlike the chain restaurants where you can only get tanker trucks to drink. Service was fairly good, but the restaurant was a bit hot (admittedly it was 95 outside). Will definitely make this a regular stop.

Had dinner here during happy hour. A pretty cool place with its microbrews on tap. Definitely worth trying, and the food is not bad either.

i love BBC, think they are the best local brewer - my opinion. quality of their beer is good - and consistent - i crave their alt and stout if i go too long without it, and all their beers are well-done - and i always enjoy their specials and seasonals. food is quite good as well. having said that the service can be unbelievably bad at times - you’d almost swear the bar staff were ignoring you intentionally (maybe they are?) - while they hang out with people they know at the bar. sometimes they are attentive and friendly, a welcome surprise - but it’s not consistent. It can have a bit of a snobby feel if you are not a regular-regular, member of their wort-hog club. but it’s a good place overall, with well-above average beer and it’s worth being in your regular rotation of places to go.

Visitied this location while in the area on business. Didn’t look like much from outside but a pretty nice vibe here; one large bar area and then a separate seating area that still has the brewpub feel. Relatively limited number of draft choices consisting of quite a few standards (Pale, Brown, Wheat, etc) but with some special stuff and seasonals as well. However, they also have 750’s available of brews that weren’t available on tap. Solid pub food that gets a slight bump due to the fact that they apparently make their chips in house and they were quite good. Bartender was friendly. Prices reasonable. Nothing spectacular here but a good time.

Good ambiance considering the neighborhood. Service is usually prompt and helpful. Limited selection, but the quality is there. Food is tasty, but nothing to write home about, except maybe the Bison Burger. Fairly inexpensive (this is KY after all). Good place to return to on a monthly basis.
