72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 14/20
Visited on a Friday night in November 2015. This was the second choice place after discovering Perdition had closed down. Busy and popular pizza palour with a decent tap list. Prices not too bad. Service was good.
The food gets marked down as they forgot to add one of the toppings to our pizza, it was pretty good and decent value.
It’s pretty handy for other venues and town, had Pliny on tap and I’d go back again.

70 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20
Happened to stop in as I discovered it’s practically next door to Perdition Smokehouse. I wasn’t hungry, having just eaten BBQ, but I saw the Elder tap handle and figured I’d give it a shot.
Tap list is modest in terms of size and scope. As mentioned, they do have Russian River beers and there was also some stuff from Moonlight, Heretic, Port, Fort Point, and some other locals like Trumer and Bear Republic. You can definitely get a good beer here, but it may not be something new and exciting.
It’s a nice enough location as well and it’s close to campus, Triple Rock, Jupiter, and BART.

72 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20
Visited three times now, twice during SFBW. The first time I went they were doing a Moonlight event which was fun since they had three or four gruits on tap, unfortunately they were gruit (an inferior style). The other times I’ve gotten a slice of pizza and pint of something interesting. They often times have Pliny as well. It’s a convenient stop to/from Triple Rock.

80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 15/20
Had the pan fried pizza. It is basically a very thin crackery crust. Good but not particularly filling. Beer seemed slightly over priced but the fact I can enjoy a game makes up for that fact.

Decent pizzeria with asmallbut carefully concocted tap selection, with an enphasis on local stuff. Worth a look.

This place was the closest thing to a "local watering hole" I had while in Berkeley. The selection is never super large, but they pick their beers carefully and are always rotating through one or two really tasty ones. The pizza’s pretty darn good, too.

68 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 14/20
Finally got by this place after reading William Brands blog about it. I took my wife and 2 boys (4 yr. old and 5 mo. old) and had a great time. Some incredible smelling pasta for the boy and very tasty pizza for the wife and I, together with a Chouffe IPA tripel followed by a Delirium Tremens, completed our meal there. Wow, I must say the pizza and the IPA tripel were matched perfectly. The place had 3 large flat panel TV’s with football and baseball going. This is a rather small place and I can see it filling up regularly, especially for watching Cal games. The draft beers are unspectacular (Trumer, SNPA, Anchor, lagunitas IPA, Pyramid Hefe, and Barney Flats) but the bottle list is impressive for a small pizzaria. They had several Belgians (Chouffe IPA Tripel, Tremens, the 3 Chimays, Piraat, Duvel, Gulden Drak, and more) and a list of other beers mostly from California. The service was mainly help yourself but everyone was very friendly. I’ll be back.
