This is beer heaven! Hundreds of bottles and a score or so of tappers. I’ve been to places with more taps, but never with more bottles. It’s definitly about the beer at the Bodega. I found this place because of business and I get there about once a year. I’ve gotten to know Jeff the owner and he loves to talk about beer. It’s over 300 miles and they remember my name! This is where I had my first Belgian. Ask him for a recommendation. You can’t go wrong. The reason for the high ambience rating is a combination of the wonderful wall of glass located on a busy downtown La Crosse corner. What a great place to relax on a sunny afternoon. Ah, yes.... heaven indeed.

I love the Bodega. After work and on weekends with friends, I stop in for amazing drinks. I go there on average 4-5 times a week since I live and work here in LaCrosse. The atmosphere is great, service immediate, and staff very knowledgeable. Being in a college town suprisingly this is where I go to avoid the collage crowd. Pushing 400 hundred beers available with 15 taps, this place is great. Don’t know what to order? Ask the person next to you. Oh, and they just remodeled!

This place is a gem. Service is amazing, and extremely knowledgeable. The beer selection is outstanding. over 400 beers to choose from. And they are now smoke-free. Soon they will be serving food. I love this bar.

I have been going to this place for about 10 years, not continuously, but probably a handful of times over that period. And, it appears to me that the quality of their selection has improved markedly in the past year, although I see from balke_13’s rating that they had beers from many of the brewers I saw on this trip over a year ago. So, perhaps either I didn’t read over the beer list all that closely last year or wasn’t as familiar with the reputations of the brewers. balke_13 didn’t mention Three Floyds, and they now also have their Alpha King. The quality of their tap selection isn’t so hot, however. It is a different selection than you will see other places, but just didn’t have the home run hitters like they do in their bottle selection. The most interesting one I found was Great Lakes Burning River, and it wasn’t that great. I found their prices to be quite reasonable for some beers, and more what I would have expected on others. A bottle of Alpha King was only $3 while DFH 60, 90, & 120 were something like $5, $8, & $16, respectively. Other brewers represented include: De Dolle, New Glarus, Bells, Rogue, Avery, Quilmes, JW Lees, St. Bernardus and much more. Highly recommended.

I lived in LaCrosse for 14 years. I take Bodega as the standard any other establishment would be wise to emulate or if ambitious and wealthy, improve upon. Due to local ordinance, on duty bartenders are forbidden to sample so they come by their knowledge through personal love of beer or from the owners mandatory staff only tastings. The building length windows make the place open and bright with people watching a popular past time. With little effort you can sojourn the planet from a bar stool at The Bodega.

the bodega is a relatively unknown gem in western wisconsin, great relaxed atmosphere with bar seating and comfortable lounge chairs. tons of old beer bottles and new line the street side windows as well as a ton of tap handles. the beer selection is fantastic (about a 15 page book). just about any regional micro (new glarus, summit, goose island, capital, sprecher, lakefront) as well as tons from both the east and west coast: avery, rogue, bells, dfh, allagash, bear republic, du claw, and more. plus, a great selection of imports: fullers, lindemans, chimay, rochefort, westvleteren, and so many more. on tuesdays or thursdays they also have a bike wheel you spin for $2 and get the beer that you land on...$2-$8 beers on the wheel. great place to check out if you find yourself in western wisconsin. highly recommended.

Originally reviewed: 12/30/09. Stopped by here with some friends when I was in town for the holidays. Grabbed a table and sampled some of the brews. Freaking stellar selection! They had 14 taps, all of which were quality brews; they also had several hundred bottles available. One cool thing at this place was this wheel on the wall that you could spin to select a certain number that corresponded to a certain beer. Kind of a fun way to try the many beers available as you never know what you are going to get. I got two of their newer offerings, the NG Unplugged Cran-bic and Lake Louie’s IPA, both great beers. If I was around here more often, I would hit this place up all the time. I wish my town had a place like this. Highly recommend you stop by.

Probably my favorite beer bar in the US. Amazing selection, knowledgable staff, and fun, laid-back atmosphere. If you find yourself in La Crosse, WI, it is a MUST VISIT!

An excellent bar with a spectacular selection. A fun selection of beer bottles decorate the front. The only short-coming I’ve had with this bar is that it can get crowded and smoky on the weekends.
