Pub located near the Grassmarket in the centre of Edinburgh. Traditional fairly simple interior, central bar with a wide selection of ales and whiskeys. Good atmosphere & service but can get very crowded.

Great pub, traditional style. Lovely cask ales lovingly served. Nice selection of bottles as well, even one gluten free beer. Staff really friendly.

A mainstay of the Edinburgh beer scene. Situated bang in the city centre with every excuse for being a tourist trap and yet It isnít. The selection is definitly more cask orientated but they do bring on some very interesting keg beers as well. The clientelle is regulars. The staff are excellent. Very friendly and accomodating with a great ability to deal with the ticks that can occur in seasoned beer drinkers. Great selection. One of the most important pubs in the city.

This is one of Edinburghs finest bars, Can get very busy, and has the narrowest tables i have ever seen. The Beer selection is Really good and the Quality Excelent. May not be as trendy as any of the grassmarket pubs but youíll be hard pushed to find a decent beer in the grassmarket. Id say a must if your in the area. This is my TOP equal choice of Edinburgh bars (along with Cloisters)

Popular traditional bar with a very minimalistic interior. 8 cask ales, good selection and fairly priced, and a few fancy imported (expensive) kegs. Staff is a bit reserved, in accordance with the vibe of the place. Get there early if you want to sit.

Traditional single-room freehouse pub located in old-town Edinburgh. Lots of interesting Scottish micros on cask and a few token Northern English. The bottle selection is compact, but well-chosen. If you like whisky this is also a great place to visit. Really enjoyed it until it started to get very busy, but then again is was a Saturday. Prompt and friendly service. An Edinburgh must-visit.
