Traditional bar close to the tourist masses, it was packed both times we visited. Seemed to be a reasonable choice but it was hard to get to the bar. The beers were in decent nick, the ambiance is friendly. Really is worth a visit.

One of the best bars in Edinburgh, usually a good selection of Scottish micros on served via traditional Scottish air pressure.

Used to be my local and the best bar in Edinburgh. However on my last few visits, I havenít been as impressed. I donít think the beers are being as well looked after as they used to be.

Staff is not super attentive, but its a nice little pub with a great selection. Really cheap pies, too, if youíre hungry.

Lovely bar tucked away in the historic Old Town district. Amazing selection of single malt whisky but I was drinking the ales on my visit. Good selection of mainly Scottish ales available.

The rack of whiskeys is so alluring here, itís hard not to stare. I donít even think the back bar is stocked with anything else but whiskey. They basically replace the standard row of commercial spirits with a proud selection of single malts. As for beer...on our first visit the ales were not in great condition unfortunately. But that was mid-week during the day when turnover was probably bad. Returned during the weekend and all were in good shape and several of the taps had changed in a matter of days. The weekend crowd was fun, but certainly not a young or beautiful crowd. They have a decent bottle selection too. Oh! If you like pulled pork sandwiches there is a great little sandwich shop across the street called Oink! Only open during the day but itís awesome. This whole little area is cute.

Authentic pub, best known for its selection in Whisky, which is hard to miss as it takes up most of the bar. Always has a good selection of cask ales. Very crowded often, but staff always friendly.

Visited 7/6/2011. Traditional pub with the walls covered in brewery memorabilia. Decent selection of ales and the barman was friendly and knowledgeable. Fairly quiet mid afternoon on a Tuesday, with a few tourists and lawyers having a quick break from the office. Very good.

A battered but charming room. A decent selection of mostly local beer on tap. Some Begian beers sold on bottles, but the bottle selection wasnít that impressive. I sat there for a few hours a saturday afternoon on my own and had a great time with a few pints and good service. If food is served there I didnít notice.
